Microsoft is constantly looking for new ways sourcing and developing non-traditional talent and leverage the skills and experiences of individuals from outside the traditional academic paths. They are constantly looking for candidates from Nigeria who are lifetime learners with broad professional experience to join the Leap Program.

Thus, Microsoft Leap Apprenticeship was created to introduce more people to work in the tech industry. Right now, Microsoft Leap Apprentice program is one of the most popular apprenticeship programs in Africa. It is a 16-week apprenticeship for those who have a base foundation of technical training.
The Microsoft Leap Apprenticeship training includes classroom time as well as real-world experience through development and project management apprenticeships. To get started, you must choose any of the following Leap Apprenticeship training Program below. You must have basic experience on the program you choose. Moreover, the program you choose will impact the collection of classroom and project experience and will also largely influence your career —whether at Microsoft or elsewhere. The programs below are available for Nigerians.
 
Software Engineering
As a Software Engineer, you’ll work as part of a development team to implement solutions on impactful projects. You’ll learn software engineering fundamentals and a variety of skills to enable you to work across the full stack of Microsoft products.
 
Software Support
Software support professionals help locate, isolate, and troubleshoot some of the most difficult to find bugs, edge-cases, or workarounds. Because of their connection to customers, they are invaluable in helping program managers and UX designers create and deliver solutions.
 
Technical Program Management
As a Technical Program Manager (TPM), you’ll work as part of a development team to implement solutions on impactful projects. You’ll learn software engineering and program management fundamentals to enable you to work across the full stack of Microsoft products.
 
Customer Service Engineering
As a Customer Service Engineer (CSE), you’ll work on a team to build custom solutions for our customers that solve their unique challenges. You’ll learn how to extend or push products into new territory, create new ways of linking information and data, and learn how to solve problems.

  • LEAP is a remunerated program that offers competitive compensation. It’s a fixed contract with a pay rate of $40 per hour during the apprenticeship.

Note:

  1. Confirm you completed/graduated from your studies more than 6 months prior to your application.
  2. Be prepared to show significant work experience in the pathway of your choice.
  3. You need a LinkedIn profile to apply.
  4. Gather necessary materials
  5. You must have completed the National Youth Corps Service (NYSC). You must also be a citizen of Nigeria to qualify.

Steps to apply:

  • Login with your LinkedIn account
  • Submit your resume, formatted in Markdown, via a GitHub Gist
  • Submit a one-page online application which includes two essays
  • Selected candidates will be invited to interview.
  • The interview process will consist of two 45-minute interviews (either online or in-person).
  • Candidates will be notified of their acceptance status soon after the last interview.

      • Problem-solving skills
    • Whiteboard coding is a standard part of technical interviews. Please come prepared.
