The University of Lagos is among the first generation of universities in Nigeria and also one of the twenty-five federal universities which are overseen and accredited by the National Universities Commission. The university has also built a legacy of academic excellence and is now acclaimed publicly as “the University of First Choice and the Nation’s Pride.” The University of Lagos is a Centre for academic research.

University of Lagos (UNILAG) Admission Requirements

  • The University of Lagos requires all candidates applying for admission into any of its courses to possess at least five (5) SSCE credit passes in relevant subjects at one sitting including Mathematics and English Language.
  • For Direct Entry Admission, Unilag accepts National Diploma plus UTME requirements for all Direct Entry Admissions. Holders of the first degree who have completed the NYSC programme with first class/second class upper may be accepted for Law or Medical Science programmes. Candidates must have the UTME requirements.
  • You must choose the University of Lagos (unilag) as your first choice.
  • You must have scored 200 and above in UTME before you can be considered for admission, while for Direct Entry(D.E) candidates, Upper Credit Pass is needed.
  • You must score above 100 points in the post UTME examination conducted by the school.
  • The following 2/3 year Diploma/Certificate are acceptable provided the candidates have the UTME requirements. (i.) UNILAG 2-year Diploma in Social Development and Administration at CGPA of 3.50 for B.Sc. Sociology and Social Works (ii.) UNILAG 2-year Diploma in PHE at CGPA 3.50 for B.Sc. Health Education. (iii.) 2-year Diploma/OND at Distinction level in Music or Theatre Arts for Creative Arts. (iv.) HND/OND at Distinction level for candidates seeking admissions into the relevant courses in the Faculties of Engineering and Environmental Sciences. (v.) NCE in relevant subjects at merit level in the Faculty of Education

What is The University of Lagos (UNILAG) cut-off mark 2024

Permit me to quickly explain what a cut off mark is and why universities in Nigeria use it as a yardstick for admission. Cut off mark is a simple English word that means a designated limit beyond which something cannot function or must be terminated. UNILAG JAMB UTME Cut off mark is the required score from you by the university in order to gain admission to study your desired score. Those who sit for JAMB are called UTME candidates. This simple means JAMB is not the only way for you to gain admission into UNILAG.

While JAMB has the power to set cut off marks for universities, though some schools may have an understanding with JAMB to increase or decrease cut off marks due to personal school policy. Mind you, Post UTME score is not the same with JAMB UTME score. You may pass JAMB and fail POST UTME.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG), JAMB UTME cut off mark varies and may change depending on school policy. This cut off is only applicable to some departmental courses in UNILAG as some may require you to score above 200 e.g Pharmacy. Most often, competitive courses are usually the ones with higher JAMB cut off marks in other to reduce the entrance and overcrowding while the non-competitive courses follow the default cut off mark.

To gain admission to UNILAG, you have the choice to choose your mode of entry. The University of Lagos (UNILAG) offers admission through a range of programmes from the full-time certificate, predegree, diploma and degree programmes to part-time evening and weekend degree programmes. The University offers postgraduate studies up to a doctoral level.

About The University of Lagos Post UTME

  • The UTME score is divided by 8 plus + the post UTME score, divided by 2. The total mark of a candidate is over (100).
  • The University of Lagos Post UTME examination stipulated time is (30 minutes). This means you must answer all questions in 30minutes.
  • Unilag sets (40) forty questions for the post UTME examination which comprises of English Language, Mathematics and General Paper. (General Paper, also known as Current Affairs, covers the present and past events in Nigeria.)
