If you are into business or working and you wish to get a Diploma or degree certificate, then a part-time programme is the best bet for you. It’s a beautiful thing to be working and be learning at the same time and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Part-time programme provides such an opportunity for you.

Unilag part-time programmes are housed by the University’s Distance Learning Instituten which was established to provide to access to high-quality education through blended learning platforms for the fulfilment of educational aspirations.

This means University of Lagos Part-Time students are not required to attend classes or have face-to-face contact; unless there are compelling reasons to justify it; such as examinations, periodic facilitations and practicum.

In essence, the University of Lagos part-time programme through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) provides options to persons who – after completing junior and secondary education- can continue their education at tertiary level; combine work and schooling at the same time, or seek gainful employment and then continue their education at a later period of their choice.

University of Lagos part-time programme has a longer duration than its full time and candidate can gain admission into 100 level or 200 level through direct entry.

Please take note

  • If you are less than 21 years of age, you are not eligible to apply for the Distance Learning Institute programme
  • An offer of admission to the programmes listed below is subject to a viable number of qualified applicants.
  • On-line Print Out Results Slips will not be honoured at the point of registration.
  • Candidates awaiting results are not eligible to apply.
  • Certificates and not Statement of Result Slips are acceptable for WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO results obtained before 2015.
  • University of Lagos Part-Time Programme currently does not require a qualifying test. However, you will need to undergo a screening exercise to ensure that you meet the minimum academic admission requirements for your choice of course.

  • B.Sc. in Business Administration
  • B.Sc. in Economics
  • B.Sc. in Public Administration
  • B.Sc. in Education Science;
  • B.Sc. Education Biology
  • B.Sc. Education Chemistry
  • B.Sc. Education Mathematics
  • B.Sc. Education Physics

B.Sc. Accounting and B.Sc. Business Administration
The following candidates are eligible to apply:

  • Graduates of the University of Lagos or any other university recognized by Senate (only candidates with good honours degrees in relevant disciplines will be considered for admission at enhanced entry-level).
  • Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) or National Diploma (ND) or National Certificate in Education (NCE) in the relevant disciplines. For this category, please note that only holders of HND with at least Upper Credit will be eligible for admissions at enhanced entry-level.
  • Holders of recognized relevant full professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, ACMA, ACIA, ACIS, ACIB, CII, may be considered for admission at the enhanced level provided they have five credits at WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any other two subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.
  • Holders of WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with credits in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any other two subjects at not more than two (2) sittings

B.Sc. Economics

  • WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with 5 credits to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any other two (2)subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.

B.Sc. Public Administration

  • WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with 5 credits to include English Language, Mathematics, Government plus any other two (2) subjects at not more than two(2) sittings.

B.Sc. Education Science
Applicants must have relevant professional experience, plus any ONE of the following three qualifications:
(a) WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/NECO (O’ Level) or its equivalent with credits in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics and at least two other science subjects; at not more than two(2) sittings from the following:

  • B.Sc. Education Biology
    Biology, Chemistry and one other Science subject of Physics or Agricultural Science.
  • B.Sc. Education Chemistry
    Chemistry and any two of Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science or any other Science subject.
  • B.Sc.  Education Mathematics
    Mathematics and Physics and one other Science subjects of Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science or any other Science subject including at least a pass in Further Mathematics.
  • B.Sc. Education Physics
    Physics and Chemistry and one other Science subject of Biology, Agricultural Science or any other science subject.

(b) Teacher’s Grade II Certificate (TCII) with at least Merit in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics and at least two other science subjects at the TCII/WASSCE/SSCE/NECO/GCE (Ordinary Level) or its equivalent;
(c) Any other qualification that may be considered equivalent to (a) and (b) above, by the University Senate.

When will the Part-Time DLI application form be available for purchase?
Application for admission into DLI usually opens between October and December of the year preceding the year of admission. The advertisement for admission is usually placed in two widely read newspapers and on DLI website www.dli.unilag.edu.ng.
