Depending on your mode of entry, Forestry and Wood Technology is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Agriculture but may be under a different faculty in some universities.

Can a commercial or art student study Forestry and Wood Technology

No! Forestry and Wood Technology is a science course and not suitable for commercial or art student. But if you have required subject combination in your O level result, you can go for it if that is the course you desire to study. If you’re still in secondary school, you may find it difficult to change subjects during WAEC registration because your schools may go against it. The alternative way to write the required subjects combination for Forestry and Wood Technology is through GCE.

(i) Federal University of Technology, Akure accepts Candidates with (a) National Diploma (ND with upper credit) or equivalent, or Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of lower credit in Forestry or Agriculture from recognised institutions. (b) GCE Advanced Level or equivalent at one sittings in at least two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology with a minimum of 6 (six) points. Holders of National Certificate in Education with Agriculture double major and at credit pass level.
(ii) University of Agriculture, Makurdi – Same as in Crop Production.

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE Special Consideration (waiver) to study Forestry and Wood Technology
(i) Federal University of Technology, Akure requires at least five credits in WASC, SSCE, GCE (Ordinary Level), NECO or equivalent at not more than two sittings in Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Mathematics, Physics and English Language. In addition, applicants must obtain an acceptable pass in Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
(ii) University of Agriculture, Makurdi – Same as in Crop Production.
