WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Adult Education

The subjects needed to study Adult Education in WAEC must contain five (5) credit. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The O level requirement, that is, the required WAEC subject combination for Adult Education must include

  1. English
  2. Mathematics
  3. A Trade subject

TC II with pass in English and at least 4 other subjects. Three of Lit. in English, History, French, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, CRK, Islamic Studies, Geography/Physics, Economics Government and Mathematics

 

JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Adult Education 

Knowing JAMB subjects for Adult Education is not enough. You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. If you’re having troubles JAMB UTME maybe it’s time you pass through IJBM, JUBEB, ND or Predegree.

Direct Entry requirement (required A-level result) to study Adult Education
(i) Two ‘A’ level passes.
(ii) NCE with passes in two subjects at merit level

Adult Education is how many years course and under which faculty?

Depending on your mode of entry, Adult Education is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Education but may be under a different faculty in some universities.

Special Consideration

The SSCE O level and A-level subject needed to study Adult Education have been listed above but, some Universities may accept D7 or E8 in some a compulsory subject instead of Credit. And some may accept or reject two sittings. That is combinations of WAEC, NECO, or GCE results. What is Direct Entry Special Consideration to study Adult Education
(i) University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) – No Direct Entry

(ii) University of Ibadan (UI) accepts own Diploma and does not accept TC II after 1981. Also requires a credit in Mathematics for all Science based combinations and Economics while a pass in Mathematics is required for social Sciences.

(iii) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) accepts: (a) Candidates who hold either the Diploma in Adult Education, Community Development, Social Welfare, Religion, Health and Physical Education, or any other Diploma recognized by the University of Nigeria Senate. (b) Candidates who passed at the Advanced level in the GCE or at the principal level in the HSC in at least two subjects including that to be combined with Adult Education. (c) Candidates with University Diploma/ OND at Distinction, credit, or merit levels in other disciplines not related to Adult Education who possess University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) minimum Entry requirements plus a credit in any related Science or Arts subjects for Direct Entry four year programme. Yoruba/Igbo, Economics, Government and Business Education. (b) Accepts University of Lagos (UNILAG) Foundation Diploma in addition to UTME requirements..

(iv) University of Benin (UNIBEN) accepts ‘A’ level subjects in relevant Arts and Social Science subjects plus 3 O/L passes including English Language at one sittings.

(v) University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) accepts OND/HND at credit level.

(vi) University of Lagos (UNILAG) (a) requires two ‘A’ Level passes in two of English, History, French, Geography, Mathematics, CRK/IRS

(vii) Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki accepts Diploma.

(viii) University of Benin (UNIBEN) requires: (a) 2/3 NCE merit passes plus 3/2 O/L credit including English Language at one sittings. (b) Merit in own Diploma/Other recognised University Diploma (Credit/Upper credit) in Adult Education and Community Development, Social Work, Theatre Arts, Physical Education, Health Education, Public Administration, Mathematics Education, Agricultural Economics, Fisheries, Forestry and Wildlife Management, Agric. Extension and Cooperative plus 3 ‘O’ level credit including English Language at one sittings. (c) ND (Upper Credit) in any of the areas listed in (ii) plus 3 ‘O’ level credit including English Language at one sittings.

(xix) Niger Delta University Yenagoa (NDU) – Same as Vocational and Technical Education.

(xx) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) requires at least two A’ level passes/HSC, NCE (merit) in relevant teaching subjects or ND/HND (Upper credit).

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE Special Consideration to study Adult Education
(i) Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu (ESUT) does not insist on Mathematics.

(ii) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) accepts a pass in NCE General English and Basic Mathematics.

(iii) Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki -credit is required for all Science based combinations while a pass is required for social Sciences.

(iv) University of Ibadan (UI) requires 5 credits at one sittings to include English Language.

(v) University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) requires five O’ level credit in English Language, the teaching subject and any other three.

(vi) University of Lagos (UNILAG) requires five ‘O’ level credits in English Language, Mathematics and any two of CRK/IRK, French, Yoruba/Igbo, History/Government, Geography, Economics and French,.

(vii) University of Calabar (UNICAL) requires credit in English Language and a pass in Mathematics.

(viii) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) requires as follows: (a) Candidates seeking entry into the four-year degree programme must satisfy the minimum University entry requirements which stipulates a minimum of five credit at the GCE O’ level or SSCE in English Language and a Science subject in addition to any three other relevant subjects. (b) Candidates seeking entry into any of the six specialized areas of the combination in the Arts and Social Sciences must meet the University minimum entry requirements in addition to the entry requirements of the department into which they are seeking combination.
(vii) Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba requires credit in English Language Mathematics and three

other relevant subjects.

(viii) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) requires five O’ level credit at one sittings or six O’ level credit at two sittings to include English Language other subjects from Arts, Social Sciences or Sciences. At least a pass in Mathematics is required.

What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration to study Adult Education
(i) University of Lagos (UNILAG) accepts any three of Literature in English, History/Government, French, Geography, Math, Yoruba/Igbo, crk/irs, Economics, and Commerce.

(ii) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) accepts a pass in NCE General English and Basic Mathematics.

(iii) University of Calabar (UNICAL) same as in Education Arts or Social Sciences.

(iv) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) requires : (a) For the three professional Adult Education options candidates seeking entry into the four-year degree programme must take English Language and any other three subjects in arts and Science as their choice may be. (b) For those combining Adult Education with English, their UME subjects must include English Language, Literature and any other arts Subjects. For other combinations, English plus any other Arts or Science subjects related to one’s choice of combination.

(v) University of Benin (UNIBEN) (a) For Adult Education Professional requires any three subjects chosen from Arts or social sciences. (b) For Adult Education Economics and Statistics requires Economics, Mathematics and one other Art or Social Science subject. (c) For Adult Education English and Literature requires Literature in English, one Art subject and any other subject. d. For Adult Education Geography and Regional Planning requires Geography, one social Science subject and any other subject. e. For Adult Education Political Science and Public Administration requires Government or History, one Social Science Subject and any other subject

(vi) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) accepts any three subjects.
