What is JAMB UTME subject combination (subjects needed) to study Business Education
You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just an advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. What is Direct Entry Special Consideration to study Business Education
(i) EDALV, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK) accept FTC/NSEC in Nat. Sec. Exams. Advanced level in Business Studies to include either Shorthand/Typewriting or Accounting and Commerce or Economics.
(ii) Abia State University, Uturu and University of Benin (UNIBEN) accept ND (credit) in Mathematics plus UTME requirements for University of Benin (UNIBEN).
(iii) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, University of Uyo, EDALV, Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu (ESUT) and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK) accept NCE in Business Education with at least a credit/merit.
(iv) Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki accepts (a) ND in Secretarial Education with at least lower credit from accredited Institution. (b) National Diploma in Secretarial Studies or Accounting. (c) Advanced WAEC/RSA in Business Studies which must include either shorthand and Typewriting or Accounting and Commerce/Economics. (d) Five merit/credit at Teachers Grade II certificate examination are also acceptable.
(v) University of Uyo and River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) accept NCE, ND (upper credit), HND (lower credit) in relevant fields plus UTME requirements.
(vi) EDALV and University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) – plus UTME requirements.
(vii) EDALV requires credit level in O/Level Mathematics and English in all cases.
(viii) RUST accepts NCE in Business Education with two credits and one merit plus three other credits at O’ level, RSA pitman certificate, TC II or National Diploma in Secretarial studies.
(ix) Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni– Same as in Accounting Education.
(x) University of Uyo accepts HND/NCE for 300 level.
(xi) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) accepts: (a) Two ‘A’ level passes plus UTME requirements.. (b) A minimum of, at least, merit level pass at NCE Business Education plus UTME requirements (c) A minimum of lower credit at ND Secretarial Studies/ Administration from any recognized polytechnic plus UTME requirements. (d) Full Technical Certificate / National Secretarial Examination Certificate at Advanced level in Business Studies plus UTME requirements.
(xii) University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) accepts NCE, ND/HND (Lower Credit) in Agricultural Science.
(xiii) University of Benin (UNIBEN) requires (a) 2/3 merit passes in NCE Business Education/Accounting and 3/2 ‘O’ level credit in Mathematics, Economics/Commerce and English Language (b) Joint Examination Board(JEB) London Teachers Diploma in RSA shorthand and Typing, National Secretarial Certificate, National Teachers Certificate (NTTC) in addition to Advanced Certificate in Shorthand and Typing in RSA, NSC, plus five ‘O’ level credit. (c) ND (Upper credit) in Accounting, Banking and Finance, business Studies, Secretarial Studies plus 3 ‘O’ level credit at one sittings.
(xiv) Bauchi State University, Gadau accepts: a) NCE in Business Education (Secretarial/Office Practice. Accounting, Management at merit and above. ND (Bus. Mgt, Bus. Admin. Accts., Pub. Adm.) at lower credit and above. b) Two ‘A’ level passes in any of the subjects listed under UTME requirements. c) Pass in NCE, ND and Grade II with minimum of four (4) years teaching experience.
(xv) Benson Idahosa University, Benin City requires in addition to the O’ level requirements specified in the table above, a minimum of two relevant subjects passed at GCE Advanced level or NCE (3 merits) in relevant field not below credit level is required.
(xvi) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) accepts i. NCE with at least merit pass in teaching subject. ii. ND/HND with upper credit in Business Education, Commerce, Accounting and any other related discipline.
(xvii) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) accepts in addition to O’ level requirement, two A’ level passes or NCE merit level in Business Methods, Principles of Accounting, Book Keeping, Commerce or Economics. Does not accept ND or HND.
(xix) Kwara State University, Ilorin (KWASU) accepts (preference will be given to NCE holders) (e) 2 A/L passes in GCE/IJMB or equivalent, one of which must be in relevant subjects. (f) ND (Upper Credit) in Office Technology &Mgt, Secretarial Studies and Accounting (g) HND (Lower Credit) in Secretarial Studies, Accounting and Marketing (h) NCE (Merit and above) in relevant field.
(xx) Niger Delta University Yenagoa (NDU) – Same as Vocational and Technical Education.
(xxi) Benue State University, Makurdi a) Preliminary degree candidates (fromBenue State University only) mustpass at least five (5) out of the six (6)subjects studied with pass level of at least 50% in each subject. b) NCE use of English is acceptable inlieu of ‘0’ level credit in SSCEINTC/NBC or GCE ‘0’ level in EnglishLanguage. c) A’ level pass in any of the acceptablesubjects supersede ‘0’ level pass inthe subject.
(xxii) Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki accepts HND, NCE and ND with a minimum of Merit and Upper credit respectively in the relevant fields.
(xxiii) University of Lagos (UNILAG) accepts; (a) NCE merit level pass in Business Education (Double Major). (b) Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects: Economics and any two of Accounting, Geography, Government, Business Management. (c) Two ‘A’ Level passes in two relevant subjects. d. NCE with Merit passes in two relevant subjects Financial Accounting, Office Management e. Candidates must satisfy O/Level requirement
(xxiv) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) – Preference will be given to NCE holders.
What is WAEC, NECO, GCE Special Consideration to study Business Education
(i) EDALV, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK) accept credit in RSA Business Studies stage II.
(ii) Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki accepts ‘O’ level/RSA Business Stage II in 5 relevant subjects.
(iii) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) requires Bus Mgt, accounting, typewriting, Government or Commerce.
(iv) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) requires credit in five subjects obtained at SSCE/ NECO/ NABTEB/ GCE ‘O’ Level which must include, English language, Mathematics and any of the following subjects: Economics, History, Commerce, Financial Accounting, Typewriting, Government, Geography, Physics and Chemistry
(iv) University of Benin (UNIBEN) accepts Commerce in lieu of Economics.
(v) Bauchi State University, Gadau requires Five O’ level credits in English Language, Mathematics/Arithmetic, Economics/ Social Studies and any two subjects.
(vi) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) requires Five ‘O’ level credits at one sittings or six ‘O’ level credits at two sittings in English Language, Mathematics and any other three subjects in the Social Science or Arts which must include Economics.
(vii) Niger Delta University Yenagoa (NDU) requires five ‘O’ level credit in English Language, Mathematics, and any three of Principles of Accounts, Commerce/Economics, Insurance, Store Keeping/Management, Word Processing, including any one of the Social Science subjects in not more than two sittings.
(viii) Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni– Same as in Accounting Education.
(ix) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) accepts any one of Business Methods, Principles of Account, Book Keeping or Commerce.
(x) KAWASU requires five credit to include English, Mathematics Plus any 1 of Economics, Commerce, Financial Accounting, Typewriting plus any two other Social Science subjects.
(xi) University of Lagos (UNILAG) accepts credit in Data Processing/Office Practice, Financial Accounting

(i) Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) accepts any three subjects
(ii) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) and University of Benin (UNIBEN) require Mathematics, Economics and any other subject in Arts or Social Sciences.
(iii) University of Lagos (UNILAG)requiresone (1) other subject fromArts or Social Science subject.
(iv) Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni – Same as in Accounting Education.
(v) EDASAB requires Economics or Commerce and any other two subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.
(vi) Bauchi State University, Gadau accepts Mathematics, Economics and any other subject.
(vii) Kwara State University, Ilorin (KWASU) accepts English, Mathematics plus any other 2 Social Science subjects.
