WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Education and History

The subjects needed to study Education and History in WAEC must contain five (5) credit. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The required WAEC subject combination (O level requirement) for Education and History must include

  1. English Language
  2. History and any relevant Arts subjects.
  3. A Trade Subject

 

JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Education and History 

Knowing JAMB subjects for Education and History is not enough. You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. If you’re having troubles JAMB UTME maybe it’s time you pass through IJBM, JUBEB, ND, HND or Predegree!..

  2. Any other two subjects chosen from CRK, Islamic Studies, Lit. in English, French, Yoruba Geography/Physics, Economics, Government and Hausa.

Direct Entry requirement (required A-level result) to study Education and History
Two NCE merit/’A’ level passes in History and one other relevant Arts subject

Cut-off Mark for Education and History course

Education and History is how many years course and under which faculty?

Depending on your mode of entry, Education and History is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Education but may be under a different faculty in some universities.

The SSCE O level and A-level subject needed to study Education and History have been listed above but, some Universities may accept D7 or E8 in some a compulsory subject instead of Credit. And some may accept or reject two sittings. That is combinations of WAEC, NECO, or GCE results. You will know more when you take a look at the special consideration (waiver) for this course

What is Direct Entry Special Consideration (waiver) to study Education and History
(i) University of Lagos (UNILAG) requires teaching subjects as second subject. Also accepts University of Lagos (UNILAG) Foundation Diploma plus UTME requirements.
(ii) University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) – No Direct Entry.
(iii) University of Benin (UNIBEN) requires: (a) 2/3 NCE merit passes including History plus 3 2 O/L credit including English Language and other subjects from Lit-in-English, Religious Knowledge, Fine Arts, French or Government. (b) Two A/L passes in relevant subjects plus 5 O/L credit including History/Government and English Language with others from Literature in-English, Religious Knowledge, French and other Arts subjects. (c) Merit in own Diploma/other recognised University Diploma (Credit/Upper credit) in Public Administration Studies and Diplomacy plus 3 ‘O’ level credit in Arts subjects including English Language.
(iv) University of Ibadan (UI) accepts NCE from University of Ibadan (UI) affiliated Colleges into 300 level.
(v) Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe accepts NCE (credit) and above in the subject to be combined with Education into 200 level.
(vi) Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) requires NCE (merit) in Education and two subject areas to be combined into the programme; less than merit into the 3 year programme.
(vii) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) accepts NCE (merit) in Government in lieu of History and one other relevant Art subject. Accepts certificate in its own Foundation Programme.
(viii) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU) accepts NCE credit level in the subject of specialization and/or any other subject. Diploma in Education in subject of specialization is acceptable
(ix) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) accepts. Two ‘A’ level passes/NCE Merit passes in History, Political Science, Social Studies and Christian/ Islamic Religious Studies and any other related subjects or University Diploma in Tourism (Upper Credit). Accepts also i. University Diploma with Upper Credit in Mass Communication.
(x) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU) accepts NCE credit/merit passes in History and one other teaching Art or professional subjects

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE Special Consideration (waiver) to study Education and History
(i) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye and University of Calabar (UNICAL) accept General English at NCE in lieu of ‘O’ level credit/TC II merit in English Language. University of Calabar (UNICAL) accepts only a pass in O/L Mathematics.
(ii) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU) accepts Music, Fine Arts, but not Government or Economics.
(ii) Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) and Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) accept Government in lieu of History.
(iv) University of Lagos (UNILAG) requires Five O/L credits in English Language, Mathematics, History/Government and two of Yoruba/Igbo, CRK/IRS, French, Geography, Economics and Literature in English.
(v) University of Benin (UNIBEN) requires five O/L credit in History/Government, Fine Arts, Lit-in-English, Religious Knowledge and English Language.
(vi) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) requires ‘O’ Level Credit passes in Mathematics and Government or History is compulsory.
(vii) Abia State University, Uturu requires Five SSCE credit to include English Language, History or Government and any three subjects.
(viii) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU) requires five O/Level credit including English Language, History and any other three Arts subjects with a pass in Mathematics.
(ix) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) requires Five ‘O’ level credits at one sittings or six ‘O’ level credits at two sittings to include English Language, History/Government and any other subject from Arts and Social Science.
(x) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU) requires O’ level credit in five subjects, must include English Language and History, or TC II merit/credit in English Language and Social Studies plus any other three subjects.
(xi) Godfrey Okoye University, Ugwuomu-Nike – Enugu State requires credit in Mathematics

What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration (waiver) to study Education and History
(i) University of Benin (UNIBEN) requires History or Government, one art & any other subject.
(ii) University of Lagos (UNILAG) accepts any three of Literature in English, History/Government, French, Geography, Math, Yoruba/Igbo, crk/irs, Economics, Commerce.
(iii) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) does not accept Physics in lieu of Geography
