WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Meteorology

The subjects needed to study Meteorology in WAEC must contain five (5) credit. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The O level requirement, that is, the required WAEC subject combination for Meteorology must include

Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. Direct Entry requirement (required A-level result) to study Meteorology
(i) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics. (ii) ND (Upper credit level) in Meteorology.
(iii) NMO Class II Certificate in Weather Forecasting, plus ‘O’ level SSCE requirements.

Meteorology is how many years course and under which faculty?

Depending on your mode of entry, Meteorology is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, Meteorology is under Faculty of Agriculture but may be under a different faculty in some universities.


Can a commercial or art student study Meteorology?

No! Meteorology is a pure science course and not suitable for commercial or art student. But if you have required subject combination in your O level result, you can go for it if that is the course you desire to study. If you’re still in secondary school, you may find it difficult to change subjects during WAEC registration because your schools may go against it. The alternative way to write the required subjects combination for Meteorology is through GCE.

(i) Federal University of Technology, Akure accepts GCE (Advance Level) passes or its equivalent in at least two subjects from the following: Physics, Mathematics and either Chemistry or Geography. Holders of WMO Class II certificate are also eligible for admission.

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE Special Consideration (waiver) to study Meteorology
(i) Federal University of Technology, Akure requires five SSCE credit at the WASSCE or NECO or GCE O’ Level or its equivalent in NOT more than two sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Geography and any other science subject.

What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration (waiver) to study Meteorology
(i) Federal University of Technology, Akure requires English Language, Physics, Mathematics and either Chemistry or Geography.
