WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Food Technology
The subjects needed to study Food Technology in WAEC must contain five (5) credits. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The required WAEC subject combination (O level requirement) for Food Technology must include

What is Food Technology course all about?
Food Technology is a science which deals with the techniques and principles involved in the processing and preserving food substances. The application of food science helps in manufacturing safe, wholesome and nutritious food products. The study of food technology is to develop new methods and systems for keeping food products safe and resistant from natural harms such as bacteria and other micro-organisms.
Food processing helps in preservation enhances the flavour and reduces the toxins in the food product which results in better distributional efficiency and easy marketing of the food product.
The modern food processing techniques is the key to flourishing supermarkets we have today. Extra nutrients can be added while processing the food and processed food is less susceptible to spoilage. Some of the techniques used are waxing, spray drying, juice concentrates, freeze-drying and the introduction of artificial sweeteners, colourants, and preservatives.
The food processing industries are involved in processes such as primary and secondary processing, preservation, quality management, packaging and labelling of a variety of products such as dairy products, fish products, fruit & vegetable products, meat and poultry products, confectionery products and food grains.
JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Food Technology
Knowing JAMB subjects for Food Technology is not enough. You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. Depending on your mode of entry, Food Technology is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, Food Technology is under Faculty of Agriculture but may be under a different faculty in some universities.
Can a commercial or art student study Food Technology?
No! Food Technology is a pure science course and not suitable for commercial or art students. But if you have the required subject combination in your O level result, you can go for it if that is the course you desire to study.
