Electrical Engineering is how many years course and under which faculty?

Depending on your mode of entry, Electrical Engineering is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, Electrical Engineering is under Faculty of Agriculture but may be under a different faculty in some universities.

 

Can a commercial or art student study Electrical Engineering?

No! Electrical Engineering is a pure science course and not suitable for commercial or art student. But if you have required subject combination in your O level result, you can go for it if that is the course you desire to study. If you’re still in secondary school, you may find it difficult to change subjects during WAEC registration because your schools may go against it. The alternative way to write the required subjects combination for Electrical Engineering is through GCE

(vii) Federal University of Technology, Minna accepts ND/HND with lower credit in relevant fields plus five credit in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and one other science subject.

(ix) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria accepts: (a) ‘A’ level/IJMB passes in Mathematics and Physics. (b) ND/HND in Elect Eng. Upper/Lower credit with Distinction in Mathematics respectively.

(x) University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) – No Direct Entry.

(xi) University of Abuja, Gwagwalada accepts HND (Lower Credit) or ND ( Upper Credit) in Electrical Engineering from Accredited Institutions plus UTME requirements into 200 level

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE special consideration (waiver) for Electrical Engineering
(i) University of Ibadan (UI) – As in Agric & Environmental Engineering.

(ii) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) Same as in Mechanical Engineering.

(iii) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) – Same as in Civil Engineering.

(iv) University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) requires the fifth credit in any Science subject preferably Further Mathematics.

(vi) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) – Same as in Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering
