WAEC subject combination for Mass Communication

In WAEC, NECO or GCE, you are expected to register a maximum of 9 subjects for a Mass Communication degree. You can register for less than 9 subjects if you are resitting.

However, you must have at least 5 credit passes amongst the 9 subjects listed below before you can gain admission into any Nigerian university to study the Mass Communication degree.

Remember, the subject combination you’re about to read is also applicable to all o level examinations. (WAEC, NECO and GCE). Now for those asking if is CRS compulsory for mass communication, the answer is NO. However, It is most likely that many students will write CRS in WAEC since CRS is one of the major subjects in Art. If you have another subject that could replace CRS, please do not hesitate to replace it.

 

Jamb subject requirements For Mass Communication.

For this degree, you are also required to register for 4 subjects and English is compulsory. Moreso, your JAMB score in addition to your POST UTME score will determine the cumulative score that the university will use to decide your candidacy for admission.

Special Consideration (waiver) to study Mass Communication

  • Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) require a pass in Mathematics.
  •  University of Jos (UNIJOS), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) and Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo require a credit pass in Literature in English.
  • Cross River State University of Science & Technology, Calabar (CRUTECH) requires credit passes in Literature in English, plus at least a pass in Mathematics.
  • Abia State University, Uturu requires credit in Literature in English, English Language and any other three subjects plus at least a pass in Mathematics.
  • Ajayi Crowther University, Ibadan (ACU) requires credit passes that must include English Language, Literature in English and three other subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.
  • Covenant University Ota requires ‘O’ level five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English, one Science subject from Biology, Health/General Science, Agric. Sci., Physics and Chemistry one from Social Science or Arts. Social Science subjects such as Geography, Economics, Government, Commerce, Principle of Account, Book Keeping. Arts such as Bible Knowledge, History. etc.
  • University of Benin (UNIBEN) requires five ‘O’ level credit passes or five-level passes in T.C. II or equivalent qualification at not more than two sittings. Subjects should include English Language and any two Arts subjects
  • The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) requires credit level passes in Literature-in-English and an approved science subject plus at least a pass in Mathematics.
  • Plateau State University Bokkos (PLASU) – Same as in the English Language
