We are a creature of praise. Psalm 148:5. Our praise and thanksgiving glorify God as we exalt not the gifts, but the Giver. Praise and thanksgiving help us realize all we have comes not because of us, but from God.

Thanksgiving is the will of God for everyone at all times, notwithstanding the situations or circumstances we might find ourselves. (1 Thess 5:18). Our requests to God in prayer should start and end with prayer of praise and thanksgiving (Phil.4:6) because it is a tried and tested weapon of spiritual warfare that guarantees victory (2Chron.20:20-27).

We give praise and thanksgiving to God for uncountable reasons. For example, we give thanks to God for His provisions (Gen.22:8; Gen.1:29-30); His enduring mercy over our lives as His people (Ps.130:7-8); 136:1-26); His miracles and deliverance from a myriad of difficulties (Ex.14:26-31, 2Kgs.5:1-14); For His restoration of life and hope (Ezek.37:1-7); For His Almightiness (Gen.17:1); For His holiness and unending faithfulness to us (1Sam.2:2; Num.23:23; Heb.6:18); His perfect love (1Jn.4:8). The list of what to thank God for is actually inexhaustible.
