UPG Sustainability Leadership mobilises people and organisations to support positive citizen leadership on sustainability. UPG brings together people who are committed to impacting by taking positive actions. Every individual and organisation can play a positive role.
For 2021 UPG is training and certifying 500 young leaders from all over the world and flying 60 of them to a FREE, complementary and immersive 1-week experience on an island in the USA: the Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership. UPG Sustainability Leadership is FREE for young people thanks to the wonderful support of their Partners who believe in positive citizen leadership on sustainability.
What UPG are looking for:
UPG is building a diverse group of people who want to take positive action that helps the world tackle our sustainability challenge. UPG agrees that sustainability includes BOTH the usual “green” issues such as planting trees, recycling waste, managing energy, protecting the oceans AND it also includes other issues that have been central to the societies for a long time such as education, health, jobs, gender equality, sustainable consumption, sustainable production and more. For those who are familiar with it, UPG uses the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a guide.
UPG Sustainability Leaders include:
– people who are passionate in a specific area (e.g. jobs or education or oceans), there is no need to be passionate in all areas.
– people who have already taken action related to sustainability AND people who have NEVER taken action
– people from all world regions
– people aged 18 to 35
– people of different levels of education
– people who have a strong motivation to be UPG Sustainability Leaders
– people who are willing and able to take action on sustainability
– people who believe in UPG’s mission to empower people to make the world a better place through positive action.
Finally, this diversity means that everyone stands a chance when we make the selection of the final UPG Sustainability Leaders.
Evaluation Guidance:
The evaluation of the application is done by reviewing the following four sections of your application:
A. Profile – who are you? This helps us to strive for diversity.
B. Motivation – why do you want to be a UPG Sustainability Leader?
C. Capability – how capable are you to do what you want to do?
D. Potential of Impact – what is the potential of your early ideas?
As part of this application, it is strongly recommended that you submit a short video (maximum 2 minutes) to answer any of the questions from any section above or to tell us more about yourself. You may submit that video by including a link to the video in the application now (there is a section in the application for this). Or you may complete the application first and mention that you will do the video later. And then submit a link to your video here: https://upglive.org/sharecontent. For your video to be considered it must be submitted by the deadline.
