On this post, I will share with you how to use the screen recorder on Windows 10. This short guide is necessary because there are more than 700 million devices running on Windows 10, including PCs, tablets, phones, and even Xbox One consoles and little wonder why Windows 10 operating system is now the most popular desktop OS in the world.
But what is screen recorder on Windows 10? In a nutshell, it is a tool that allows you to take a digital recording of your screen activities. It is a quick three-step process to capture the visual activities on the of a device.
Screen recorder on Windows 10 can be used to verbally teach explain the how-to steps to offer employees or customers an easy-to-use reference. These videos can help save time and increase communication. Moreover, these videos can be shared repeatedly across a variety of platforms.
While many windows 10 users may download a screen recorder to capture screen activities, there are few users who make use of the in-built screen recorder on Windows 10. Like the popular snipping tool, the screen recorder I’m referring to is built into the Game bar and you may as well not have seen this tool if you are not a gamer.
The screen recorder windows 10 is not a standalone utility, and you won’t find it even though you browse through the Start Menu. To locate the screen recorder, you should hover to the Start menu and search for “Game bar” or use the keyboard shortcuts (Windows key and G simultaneously.)

OBS Studio: This is an open-source program that is quite popular among gamers. If you don’t want to use the inbuilt Game Bar on Windows 10, you should try OBS Studio. It is a free screen recording software for video recording and live streaming without watermark or time limit. Using OBS Studio, you can capture the entire screen activities on your Windows 10 and also from webcam and microphone. Unfortunately, OBS Studio doesn’t come with an inbuilt video editor.
Screencast-O-Matic. This is a web-based screencasting software which is also a good screen recorder for windows 10. This easy tool does not require the use of the internet. You can be launched directly the tool from a browser or used as a desktop app. This screen recorder for Windows 10 offers a good number of features ranging from screen recording, video editing, to video hosting and sharing. Though you are allowed to trim your recordings, add closed captions, and publish videos to YouTube channels, unfortunately, the free version is limited to 15-minute recordings with watermark added.
