College of Medicine of the University of Lagos which was once called the University of Lagos Medical School became active on the 1 of April 1967. College of Medicine University of Lagos is one of the most popular and foremost medical schools in Nigeria with a student population of almost 2000 students and a staff strength of 1,850. The College has grown remarkably over the years. It has three faculties: Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Dental Sciences.

The Faculty of Dental Sciences is today the centre of Excellence for Dentistry in Nigeria. The College has to date produced over 6,000 graduates in disciplines of Medicine, Dentistry, Microbiology, Physiotherapy, Physiology, Radiography and Pharmacology.

Moreover, College of Medicine University of Lagos has to date, produced graduates with M.Sc, M.Phil and PhD degrees in various disciplines and MD degrees in Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Microbiology, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Clinical Pathology and Child Health & Primary Care.

Undergraduates Courses offered in College of Medicine of the University of Lagos:

Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery:

College of Medicine of the University of Lagos offers Five to Six-Year Medical Course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). To qualify for this undergraduate course through O level requirement, you must have a General Certificate of Education or Senior Secondary School Certificate with credits in at least five subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

For Direct Entry, candidates for admission to the College must have a high score in the following three subjects, namely: Physics, Chemistry, Biology at the Advanced Level in the General Certificate of Education in addition to the General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level’s qualification. Passes in subjects in all other equivalent examination must be interpreted by the University of Lagos before eligibility of the candidates can be determined.

Pharmacology:

College of Medicine of the University of Lagos offers three to four-year Medical Course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Pharmacology. To qualify for this undergraduate course through O level requirement, candidates are required to possess General Certificate of Education or Senior Secondary Certificate credits in five subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, English Language. O/Level credits in five subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English Language.

For Direct Entry, two out of the three science subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology must be passed at the GCE Advanced Level.
 
Physiology:

College of Medicine of the University of Lagos offers three to four-year Medical Courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physiology. To qualify for this undergraduate course through O level requirement, candidates are required to possess General Certificate of Education or Senior Secondary School Certificate credits in five subjects including, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and at least a pass in English Language.

For Direct Entry, in addition to the GCE O/L qualification, two of three science subjects, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology must be passed at the GCE Advanced Level

Physiotherapy:
College of Medicine of the University of Lagos offers four to five to year Medical Course leading to the degree of Bachelor Physiotherapy (B.Physio). To qualify for this undergraduate course through O level requirement, candidates are required to possess General Certificate of Education or Senior Secondary School Certificate credits in five subjects including, Mathematics and the following: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English Language.

For Direct Entry, in addition to the GCE O/L qualification, candidates for direct entry must possess at least ‘C’ grade in the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology. An appropriate pass in the University of Lagos Foundation Programme or its equivalent shall also be considered.

Biomedical Engineering/Biomedical Informatics
College of Medicine of the University of Lagos offers a five to year Medical Course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering (B.M.Engr.). To qualify for this undergraduate course through O level requirement, candidates are required to possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes in SSCE i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English Language and Mathematics/Further Mathematics, or it’s equivalent (GCE) O’ level at not more than one (1) sitting together with an appropriate pass in the Joint Matriculation Examination (JME) and Post-JME Examination.

For Direct Entry, candidates must possess at least ‘C’ grades in Physics and Chemistry or Biology at ‘A’ level plus the above five credits at ‘O’ level. An appropriate

Dental Surgery:
College of Medicine of the University of Lagos offers Five to Six-Year Medical Courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). To qualify for this undergraduate course through O level requirement, candidates are required to possess General Certificate of Education or Senior Secondary School Certificate credits in five subjects including; English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology.

For Direct Entry, candidates must possess in addition to the required WAEC subjects combination for Dental Surgery, in addition to the required WAEC subjects combination for Dentistry and Dental Surgery, you are expected to have three ‘A’ level passes include Chemistry, Biology/Zoology and Physics.

Nursing Science:
College of Medicine of the University of Lagos offers Five Year Medical Courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.). To qualify for this undergraduate course through O level requirement, candidates are required to possess General Certificate of Education or Senior Secondary School Certificate credits in five subjects including; English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology.

For Direct Entry, candidates must possess in addition to the required WAEC subjects combination for Nursing Science,
(i) Two ‘A’ level passes from Biology/Zoology, Chemistry and Physics plus 3 other ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics, Physics, and English Language.
(ii) NRN or its approved equivalent plus five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language and one Science subjects chosen from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Human Nursing/Nursing Science, Physiology and Hygiene, Health Science, Further Mathematics and General Science.

Medical Laboratory Science:
College of Medicine of the University of Lagos offers Five Year Medical Courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (B.M.L.S.). To qualify for this undergraduate course through O level requirement, candidates are required to possess General Certificate of Education or Senior Secondary School Certificate credits in five subjects including; English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology.

For Direct Entry, candidates must possess in addition to the required WAEC subjects combination for Medical Laboratory Science, Two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Zoology

Radiography:
College of Medicine of the University of Lagos offers Five Year Medical Course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Radiography. To qualify for this undergraduate course through O level requirement, candidates are required to possess General Certificate of Education or Senior Secondary School Certificate credits in five subjects including; English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology.

For Direct Entry, candidates must possess in addition to the required WAEC subjects combination for Radiography, Two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Physics, Chemistry and Biology
