No, Art History is not a good major in this present dispensation and certainly not a good major for those who are career centered. Art history is meant for those who are really passionate about travel, who see in pictures, look at the world like a canvas, and want to analyze it. Art history is for those who love art, history, and why people think the way they do. Art History major is for those who are interested in understanding our human past and its relationship to our present. The act of making art is one of humanity’s most ubiquitous activities.

As an art historian, you will learn about this rich and fundamental strand of human culture. You will learn to talk and write about works of art from different periods and places, in the same way, that other students learn to write about literature or history

Yes. Art History is a hard major not meant for those who hate reading. Students are taught to look and keep looking, to devise meaning from observation. Students spend more time reading than looking, more time writing than analyzing.
