WAEC Compulsory Subjects for Art, Science and Commercial Students

Please, you should know that the Science/Art/Commercial subjects accepted by; for example the University of Lagos may not be accepted in Lagos State University.
All Schools have laid down policy on what subject is required for a course and the acceptable grades. It is better you check the specific university subject requirement for a course you wish to study than the general WAEC compulsory subjects. This page is only meant to show you which subjects are science, art and commercial.

If you’re writing WAEC or any O level examination, remember to blend with other subjects. For example, since you only need 5 subject credits to qualify for admission and you have confirmed the required compulsory subject combinations for your desired course, then add more courses. Add courses from both science, art and commercial subjects to complete 9 subjects.

    • There are no such thing as compulsory subject for commercial students…. Each university course has a required subject. So if you’re a commercial student, search for a commercial course and check the requirements within this website

  1. Sir, we were told to choose the subjects that we will do in our SSS2 and I want to study mass communication but I don’t know the subjects to choose

  2. can i study computer science when i got D7 in chemistry,
    but have at least credit passes in maths, english, physics, biology and further maths

    i have and A1 in computer studies too,

    also does further maths qualify as a science subject
