Things you need to convert UK GPA to US GPA.

  • US GPA grade chart
  • Your UK university’s GPA grade chart
  • Your transcript.

If you don’t have your transcript available, you could make use of your personal exams records if you have one. But transcript is preferable since it’s official. You’re also required to send a transcript and not personal records.

This tutorial is for educational purposes only. Please do not attempt to convert your grades to GPA and consider it official. US schools will accept your transcripts in the format that your local university issues them. Only use this tutorial to get an idea of what your GPA would be while you wait for your transcript to be converted by the school.

The grade above is the most common GPA conversion grade used by universities in the United States. Some universities use 1.67 in place of 1.7 and 1.33 in place 1.3, but this difference does not significantly affect the resulting GPA. For a few schools, anything below 65 is 0. A+ is sometimes converted to 4.3 (or 4.33) points, but many universities do not have an A+.
