Duration:

  • Entry through UTME with GCE O/L or approved equivalent – 4 years.
  • Direct entry with GCE A/L or approved equivalent – 3 years

The candidates must be over 16 years of age by 1st of October in the year of admission.

  • Candidates must possess at least 5 credit passes in relevant subjects including English Language at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.

 

  • Candidates with Teachers Grade II (TC II) Certificate with passes at credit or merit levels in conjunction with credit passes in relevant subjects at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents may be considered. No subject may be counted at both TC II AND GCE O/L.

Akwa Ibom State University Admission Requirements for Direct Entry

  • Two (2) passes at GCE A/L, HSC, IJMB or approved equivalents in relevant subjects and at least credit pass in three (3) other subjects including English Language at GCE O/L, WASCE. SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than two sittings.

 

  • Three (3) passes at GCE A/L, HSC, IJMB or approved equivalents in relevant subjects and at least credit pass in two (2) other subjects including English Language at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than two sittings.

  • At least two (2) passes at GCE A/L, HSC, IJMB or approved equivalents and at least credit pass in 3 other relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.

 

  •  At least two (2) passes at merit level or above in two (2) relevant subjects at NCE, OND, HND or approved equivalents and at least credit passes in three (3) relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents.

Akwa Ibom State University Admission Requirements for Faculty of Engineering 

  • In addition to the general University entry requirements, candidates must possess any of the following:
    Five credit passes at not more than 2 sittings including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry at WASCE. SSCE, GCE, NECO or approved equivalents.
  • 2 A/L passes in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or approved equivalents and at least 3 credit passes including English Language at WASCE, SSCE. GCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
  • OND at upper credit and above in relevant subjects in addition to UTME entry requirements in (i) above.
  • HND at least lower credit and above in addition to UTME entry requirements in (i) above.

E. Akwa Ibom State University Admission Requirements for Faculty of Agriculture
In addition to the general University entry requirements, candidates must possess any of the following:

  • At least 5 credit passes in relevant subjects at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents including English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics at not more than 2 sittings.
  •  At least 5 credit passes in relevant subjects at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents including English Language, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Mathematics and any other subject with at least a pass in Physics at not more than 2 sittings. A pass in Biology is mandatory for candidates with credit pass in Agricultural Science.
  • At least 2 A/L passes at GCE A/L, HSC, IJMB or approved equivalents in 2 relevant subjects including Biology or Agricultural Science and Chemistry and at least credit passes in 3 other subjects including English Language and Mathematics at GCE O/L,WASCE,SSCE,NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
  • At least 2 passes at merit level or above in 2 relevant subjects including Biology or Agricultural Science and Chemistry at NCE, HND or approved equivalents and at least credit passes in 3 other subjects including English Language and Mathematics at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents.

 

Akwa Ibom State University Admission Requirements for Faculty of Ocean Science and Technology

In addition to the general University entry requirements, candidates must possess any of the following:

  • At least 5 credit passes in relevant subjects at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings including English Language, Mathematics, and the core science subjects namely Biology, Chemistry and Physics. A credit pass in Geography will be an advantage.
  • 2 A/L passes in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or approved equivalents and at least 3 credits pass including English Language at WASCE, SSCE, GCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
  • OND at upper credit and above in relevant subjects in addition to UTME entry requirements in (i) above.

 

Akwa Ibom State University Admission Requirements for Faculty of Social and Management Sciences

  • Admission into the Akwa Ibom State University shall be through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) or Direct Entry. In addition to attaining the general required standard in UTME, candidates must satisfy the general University requirements as well as the specific School /Faculty and Programmes requirements. All admissions shall be through JAMB.
  •  The candidate must be over 16 years of age by 1st October in the year of admission.
  • Candidates must possess at least 5 credit passes in relevant subjects including English Language at GCE O/L, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
