WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Home Science and Management
The subjects needed to study Home Science and Management in WAEC must contain five (5) credit. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The required WAEC subject combination (O level requirement) for Home Science and Management must include

- At least a pass in English and Physics.
- General Metal Work, General Wood Work, Building/Engineering Drawing, Furniture Design and Construction, Upholstery Design and Construction, Spray Painting and Period Furniture, Spinning, Weaving, Surface Design and Printing, Bleaching, Dyeing and Finishing and Basic Electricity

Depending on your mode of entry, Home Science and Management is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Agriculture but may be under a different faculty in some universities.
Can a commercial or art student study Home Science and Management
No! Home Science and Management is a science course and not suitable for commercial or art student. But if you have required subject combination in your O level result, you can go for it if that is the course you desire to study. If you’re still in secondary school, you may find it difficult to change subjects during WAEC registration because your schools may go against it. The alternative way to write the required subjects combination for Home Science and Management is through GCE.

What is Direct Entry Special Consideration (Waiver) to study Home Science and Management
(i) Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) accepts upper credit in NCE and ND in Food Science and Technology, Home Economics, Hotel Management and Tourism, Clothing and Textile from a recognised institution in addition to UTME requirements.
(ii) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye accepts candidates not less than 35 years old with at least 10 years cognate working experience plus a ND of HND in the relevant discipline and O/L English Language and Maths may be admitted after successful oral interview.
(iii) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) – As in Agricultural Economics.
(iv) University of Agriculture, Makurdi accepts (a) HSC/GCE `A’ level passes in Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Mathematics may be admitted to 200 level. (b) HND holders with upper credit in relevant disciplines who posses the UTME requirements may be admitted to 300 level. (c) ND holders with upper credit in relevant disciplines who possess the UTME requirement may be admitted to 200 level. (d) NCE holders with lower credit in relevant disciplines who possess UTME requirements may be admitted to 200 level. NCE holders with lower credit in relevant disciplines who posses UTME requirements may be admitted to 100 level. (e) NCE holders with merit in relevant disciplines who possess UTME requirements may be admitted to 100 level (Food Science or Hotel Management or any relevant course).
(v) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) accepts: a) ND/NCE/SRN, WAHEB. C & G Finals in Home Economics/Food Science/ Nutrition/Agriculture/ Nursing/Pubic Health/ Laboratory Science/Hotel & Catering Management plus two other credits at O’ level or ND/NCE/SRN, WAHEB, C&G Finals in Home Economics/Food Science/ Nutrition/ Agriculture /Nursing/Public Health/ Laboratory Science /Hotel & Catering for admissions into 200 level. b) B.Sc in any other relevant discipline for admission into 300 level.
What is WAEC, NECO, GCE, Special Consideration (Waiver) to study Home Science and Management
(i) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) In addition to the UTME/General University Entry requirements, a candidate must obtain credit in Chemistry, Biology or Food and Nutrition or Agricultural Science.
(ii) Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) requires five (5) SSCE credit in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
(iii) University of Agriculture, Makurdi requires Five (5) SSC/WASC/GCE `O’ level/NECO at not more than two sittings, categorized as follows: (a) two credit in Chemistry and Biology or Agricultural Science or Health Science. (b) three credit: of Geography, Physics, Mathematics Food & Nutrition, Home Management, Clothing and Textiles and credit in English Language. The successful students of the University Remedial science programme shall be considered for admission to year 1 (100 level) after having passed the minimum requirement for JAMB. All admissions into the University programme must be through JAMB.
(iv) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) requires five credit level passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Health Science/Agricultural Science and three other subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Food and Nutrition, Economics, Government, Geography, Commerce, Home Economics, Fine Arts, Clothing & Textile at not more than two sittings.
(v) Kogi State University Anyigba requires credit at SSCE and/or GCE O/L in English Language, Chemistry, Biology or Agric. Science, Mathematics, Nutrition/Home Economics and at least a pass in Physics.
What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration (Waiver) to study Home Science and Management
(i) Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and Physics/ Mathematics or Food and Nutrition or one social science subject (Economics or Geography).
(ii) University of Agriculture, Makurdi requires Chemistry, Biology or Agric. Science, Mathematics or Physics.
(iii) Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) requires Chemistry, Biology and Physics/Mathematics.
