WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Agriculture

The subjects needed to study Agriculture in WAEC must contain five (5) credit. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The O level requirement, that is, the required WAEC subject combination for Agriculture must include:

  1. English Language
  2. Biology/Agric Science
  3. Chemistry
  4. Anyone of Mathematics, Physics, Geography and Economics
  5. A trade subject

 

JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Agriculture 

Knowing JAMB subjects for Agriculture is not enough. You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. If you’re having troubles JAMB UTME maybe it’s time you pass through IJBM, JUBEB, ND or Predegree.

Direct Entry requirement (required A-level result) to study Agriculture
Two A-level passes in Chemistry and one from Biology/Botany/Zoology/ Agric Science, Economics, Physics, Geography and Geology/Mathematics (Pure & Applied).

Cut-off Mark for Agriculture course

The cut-off mark for Agriculture varies. You can check these universities JAMB UTME cut off marks here. Agriculture is a good course and you can also check the top best Agricultural courses. This should not influence you. Follow your heart or seek my counsel.

Agriculture is how many years course and under which faculty?

Depending on your mode of entry, Agriculture is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Agriculture but may be under a different faculty in some universities.

Can a commercial or art student study Agriculture

No! Agriculture is a science course and not suitable for commercial or art student. But if you have required subject combination in your O level result, you can go for it if that is the course you desire to study. If you’re still in secondary school, you may find it difficult to change subjects during WAEC registration because your schools may go against it. The alternative way to write the required subjects combination for Agriculture is through GCE.

 

Is Animal Physiology a science or social science subject?

(i) Abia State University, Uturu and University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) accept OND (Agriculture) into 100 level programme. (200 level for Edo University Iyamo).

(ii) Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBU) and University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) require ‘A’ level pass in both Chemistry and Biology.

(iii) University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), University of Ibadan (UI) and Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, University of Ibadan (UI) (merit level) accept NCE with Agric double major.

(iv) Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) – Accepts ND/NCE (Double Major) or HND in Agriculture or related discipline with at least a merit pass into 200 level and HND (Upper) into 300 level.

(v) Usumanu Danfodiyo University (UDUSOK), and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria accept ND (distinction), HND (credit), NCE (double major) at credit level in Agriculture. Usumanu Danfodiyo University (UDUSOK) accepts ND (Upper credit) and HND (Lower credit)

(vi) University of Ibadan (UI) and Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike accept OND/HND in the related fields. University of Ibadan (UI) Agricultural candidates must apply to read Agriculture Until 500 level when options will be available.

(vii) Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma accepts Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture at ‘A’ level and OND (Upper credit) in Agricultural Science and HND (Agric) not below credit pass.

(viii) Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki and Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike accept OND/ND (Distinction/Credit), HND credit into 200 level while those with OND/ND (lower credit) NCE (Double Major) at credit/merit level in Agric are admitted into 100 level.

(x) Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike requires ‘A’ level pass in Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agricultural Science

(xi) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) accepts OND/NCE credit pass in Agriculture into 200 level while those with HND may be admitted into 300 level.

(xii) Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBU) and Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) accept OND (Upper credit) in Agric. plus five relevant credit passes at O/level.

(xiii) Benson Idahosa University, Benin City accept OND/NCE with distinction or credits into 200 level.

(xiv) Ekiti State University requires a minimum of credit pass in Physics and accepts ND (Upper credit pass) in Agric related field. Forestry Assistant Certificate from IITA, Ibadan or any other relevant Higher Institution.

(xv) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) accepts NCE (Merit grade) in Biology, Chemistry or Agriculture. Also accepts National Diploma in Banking/Finance, Business Management (Merit grade) plus UTME requirements.

(xvi) Kano University of Science & Technology, Wudil (KUST) accepts NCE/HND (Merit) ND in Chemistry/Biology (Upper credit)/any relevant qualification.

(xvii) Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma accepts ND/NCE (credit) in Agricultural Science. Requires at least a pass in Physics.

(xviii) Kebbi State University, Kebbi accepts NCE in Agriculture Science

(xix) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) accepts ND/NCE credit pass in Agriculture into 200 level while those with HND will be admitted into 300 level.

(xx) Bowen University, Iwo accepts NCE/OND or approved equivalent in relevant fields, IJMB at acceptable levels. For Food Science and Technology at least a pass in Physics is required.

(xxi) Benson Idahosa University, Benin City requires in addition to the O’ level requirements specified in the table above, a minimum of two relevant subjects passed at GCE Advanced level or NCE (3 merits) or National Diploma in relevant field not below credit level.

(xxii) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria accepts (i) Two A level/IJMB passes in Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agric. Science, Economics, Physics, Geography and Geology/Mathematics (Pure & Applied). (ii) HND in Agriculture related field of study with a minimum of Credit Pass.

(xxiii)Bayero University, Kano (BUK) accepts a) National Diploma. b) NCE Agriculture (double major) c) NCE with Biology and Chemistry

(xxiv) Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State accepts ND, NCE with good passes in Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science as well as credit at O’ level.

(xxv) Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti – Ekiti State requires A’ level passes or its equivalent qualifications as approved by Senate in at least two subjects to include Biology and any of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE, Special Consideration (Waiver) for Agriculture
(i) University of Ibadan (UI) requires five credit passes including English Language, Biology,/Agric Sci, Chemistry, Mathematics and any one of Geography, Physics, and Economics

(ii) Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike accepts Five O’ level credit Passes in not more than two sittings to include: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, or Agricultural Science and any other science subjects. It also requires at least a Pass in Physics. A Credit in Agricultural Science must be backed up with at least a Pass in Biology

(iii) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ekiti State University and University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) accept a pass in Physics.

(iv) Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) accepts a pass in Maths if a candidate has credit in Physics and vice versa.

(vi) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria requires credits in Mathematics and Physics.

(vii) University of Ibadan (UI), Ekiti State University and University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) require credit in Agric Science and at least a pass in Biology.

(viii) Usumanu Danfodiyo University (UDUSOK) and Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma accept a pass in ‘O’ level English language.

(ix) Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) may accept a pass in Maths if a candidate has credit in Physics and vice-versa.

(x) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) accepts a pass in Physics.

(xi) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) requires O’ Level credit pass in Agriculture Science with at least a pass in Biology.

(xii) Benson Idahosa University, Benin City requires at least a pass in Physics.

(xiii) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria requires five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Biology/Agric Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Geography and Economics.

(xiv)Bayero University, Kano (BUK) requires five O’ Level Credit passes to include English Language, Biology/Agric Science, Chemistry and any one of Mathematics/Physics, Geography.

(xv) Federal University, Wukari, Taraba State (FUWUKARI) requires five O’ level credit Passes in not more than two sittings to include: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, or Agricultural Science and any of Physics, Geography and Economics.

(xvi) Kogi State University Anyigba requires five Credit passes at SSCE and/or GCE O/L in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Economics or any other Science/Social science subject and a pass in Physics. A Credit in Agricultural Science must be backed up with at least a pass in Biology.

(xvii) Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State requires credit pass in Physics and consideration can be given to candidates with credit pass in Mathematics and pass in Physics.

(xviii) Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo requires Five ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agriculture Science, Physics/Geography, Home Economics/Food &Nutrition.

(xix) Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti – Ekiti State requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

(xx) Landmark University, Omu-Aran – Same as in Agricultural Economics

What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration (Waiver) for (Waiver) for Agriculture
(i) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Usumanu Danfodiyo University (UDUSOK) and Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) accept Economics or Geography in lieu of Physics/Mathematics.

(ii) Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBU) requires Chemistry, Physics and Biology

(iii) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria requires Chemistry, Biology/Agriculture and Mathematics.

(iv) Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti – Ekiti State requires Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.

  1. My brother had a wrong subject combinations for UTME with chemistry, Agric, biology and English. Instead of choosing bio/Agric. He wrote both bio and Agric. Is this going to be a problem for him. He is about to write Post-UTME at university of Ibadan.
