WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Special Education

The subjects needed to study Special Education in WAEC must contain five (5) credit. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The required WAEC subject combination (O level requirement) for Special Education must include

  1. English Language
  2. A Trade subject

 

JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Special Education 

Knowing JAMB subjects for Special Education is not enough. You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. If you’re having troubles JAMB UTME maybe it’s time you pass through IJBM, JUBEB, ND, HND or Predegree!..


These are JAMB UTME subject combinations (subjects to write in jamb) to study Special Education

  1. Any three subjects.

Direct Entry requirement (required A-level result) to study Special Education
(i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects.
(ii) NCE merit level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects.

Special Education is how many years course and under which faculty?

Depending on your mode of entry, Special Education is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Education but may be under a different faculty in some universities.

Special Consideration
The SSCE O level and A-level subject needed to study Special Education have been listed above but, some Universities may accept D7 or E8 in some a compulsory subject instead of Credit. And some may accept or reject two sittings. That is combinations of WAEC, NECO, or GCE results. You will know more when you take a look at the special consideration (waiver) for this course

What is Direct Entry Special Consideration to study Special Education?
(i) University of Calabar (UNICAL) accept three-year programme for candidates with NCE or Diploma in Special Education/Physical and Health Education.
(ii) University of Ibadan (UI) insists on teaching subjects offered at University of Ibadan
(iii) University of Jos (UNIJOS) accepts three (3) ‘A; level credit at Principal levels, Two (2) NCE passes at Merit levels, IJAMB passes at Principal levels, all in the relevant subject. Diploma in Special Education. Candidates must have met SSCE entry requirements.
(iv) Kwara State University, Ilorin (KWASU) accepts a) NCE or A ‘Level certificate, plus At Least FIVE Credits in O’ Level including English Language, and any FOUR of the following subjects: Health Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography and Economics, at one or two sittings. b) At least a PASS is required for the Inclusive Education programme. c) No direct Entry Admission for 2013/2014.

What is WAEC, NECO GCE Special Consideration to study Special Education
(i) University of Jos (UNIJOS) requires five ‘O’ level credits including English Language and Mathematics. TC II Merit Pass in English and NCE General English are taken as equivalent of ‘O’ level credit in English. Candidates without credit in ordinary level Mathematics may be admitted but must either register and pass remedial Mathematics or pass Mathematics at credit level before graduation
(ii) University of Ibadan (UI) requires 5 ‘O’ level credits at one sittings including English Language and others from Arts, Social Sciences and Sciences.
(iii) Kwara State University, Ilorin (KWASU) requires credit in English Language, Mathematics, any one of Health Science, Biology, Chemistry or Physics, Plus two of Geography, Economics or Government.
