WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Crop Production

Depending on your mode of entry, Crop Production is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Agriculture but may be under a different faculty in some universities.

Can a commercial or art student study Crop Production

No! Crop Production is a science course and not suitable for commercial or art students. But if you have the required subject combination in your O level result, you can go for it if that is the course you desire to study. If you’re still in secondary school, you may find it difficult to change subjects during WAEC registration because your schools may go against it. The alternative way to write the required subjects combination for Crop Production is through GCE.

(i) Federal University of Technology, Minna does not accept Social Science subjects. Other requirements are as in Agriculture.
(ii) Niger Delta University Yenagoa (NDU) – No direct entry admission.
(iii) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye requires ‘A’ level passes in both Chemistry and Biology. Accepts credit in OND (Agric) to 100 level programme. OND (distinction)/HND (Credit) /NCE (Double major) at credit level in Agriculture.
(iv) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) and Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) – Same as in Animal Science.
(v) Federal University of Technology, Minna accepts NCE/OND/HND at minimum of Lower Credit level in addition to UTME requirement.
(vi) Adamawa State University Mubi (ADSU) – as in Animal Production & Fisheries
(vii) Ekiti State University and Federal University of Technology, Akure – as in Agric. Economics and Extension
(viii) Bauchi State University, Gadau accepts NCE, OND (relevant field) in addition to UTME requirements.
(ix) Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) accepts ND or NCE (Double Major) and HND in Agriculture with at least a credit pass in 200 level.
(x) Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) and University of Benin (UNIBEN) – Same as in Agric-Economics.
(xi) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) same as in Agrci. Economics and Extension
(xiii) Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY) accepts: (a) ND/NCE in Agric. with a minimum of Merit grade in Agriculture. (b) IJMB with at least 7 cumulative points in Chemistry, Biology/ Agricultural and Physics/ Mathematics.
(xiv) Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) as in Agric. Extension and Rural Development.
(xv) Federal University of Technology, Akure admits candidates with any of the followings: (a) ND with a minimum of upper credit from recognized Polytechnics or Colleges of Technology or the Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) or equivalent in relevant agriculture-based disciplines such as Agricultural Education and Crop Production Technology; (b) GCE Advanced Level passes in Biology and any of the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
(xvi) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU) does not accept Economics and accepts HND/ND in Agriculture obtained at upper credit level from recognized Institution.
(xvii) University of Calabar (UNICAL) accepts HND, NCE/ND at merit level but does not accept IJMB.
(xviii) Kwara State University, Ilorin (KWASU) accepts ND/HND, NCE (relevant field) in addition to UTME requirements.
(xix) MAKRUDI accepts (a) Two `A” level passes in any of Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science/Botany/Zoology or Mathematics, (Pure & Applied) Physics, Geology and Economics). (b) NCE/ND/HND (Credit/Merit) in Agriculture
(xx) Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) accepts (a) Two `A” level passes in any of Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science or Physics (b) NCE/ND/HND (Credit/Merit) in Agriculture
(xxi) Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki accept NCE with minimum Merit passes in relevant fields or HND and ND with minimum of Upper credit in relevant fields.

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE, Special Consideration Waiver) for Crop Production
(i) University of Benin (UNIBEN) and Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) – Same as in Agricultural Economics.
(ii) University of Calabar (UNICAL) requires five ‘O’ level credit passes to include Chemistry, Biology/Agric Science Mathematics and one Science/Social Science subject and at least a pass in Physics plus English Language 9credit pass.
(iii) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye requires ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and Physics.
(iv) University of Benin (UNIBEN) – As in Agric Economics.
(v) Niger Delta University Yenagoa (NDU) requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Agricultural Science..
(vi) Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) accepts P.7 in English Language.
(vii) Federal University of Technology, Minna and NAU- as in Animal Production
(viii) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike – as in Agric Economics.
(ix) Federal University of Technology, Minna and Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) require credit passes in English Language and Mathematics
(x) Bauchi State University, Gadau and River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) require credit in English language for UTME but accept a pass in Physics.
(xi) University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) – Same as in Fisheries.
(xiii) Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli and Abia State University, Uturu require five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science.
(xiv) Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY) requires credit passes in Chemistry, Biology/ Agric. Sc. and any one from Physics /Geography/ Economics/ Horticulture.
(xv) Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) as in Agric. Extension and Rural Development.
(xvi) Federal University of Technology, Akure requires five credits at WASSCE or NECO or GCE O/L or equivalent examinations at a maximum of two sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science. At least a Pass in Physics is required.
(xvii) University of Agriculture, Makurdi requires five credit passes in Biology or Agriculture Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language, Physics or any other Science subjects. Accepts a pass in Physics.
(xviii) Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) requires five credit passes in Biology or Agriculture Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language, Physics.

What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration Waiver) for Crop Production
(i) Federal University of Technology, Akure requires English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science.
(ii) Salem University, Lokoja – Same as in Soil Science.
(iii) Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) requires English language, Chemistry, Biology/Agriculture Science, and Physics/Mathematics (iv) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye requires Chemistry and any two of Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Agricultural Science and Geography.
(v) Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY) requires Biology/Agric. Sc. and any other two of Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Economics and Mathematics.
