WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Forestry

The subjects needed to study Forestry in WAEC must contain five (5) credit. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The required WAEC subject combination (O level requirement) for Forestry must include:

  1. English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Chemistry
  4. Biology/Agric. Science
  5. Any of Physics, Economics, Further Mathematics and Statistics.
  6. A  trade subject

 

JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Forestry 

Knowing JAMB subjects for Forestry is not enough. You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. If you’re having troubles JAMB UTME maybe it’s time you pass through IJBM, JUBEB, ND, HND or Predegree!..

Direct Entry requirement (required A-level result) to study Forestry
Two ’A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology or Agric Science or Zoology or Botany

Cut-off Mark for Forestry course

The cut-off mark for Forestry varies. You can check these universities JAMB UTME cut off marks here. Forestry is a good course and you can also check the top best Agricultural courses. This should not influence you. Follow your heart or seek my counsel.

Forestry is how many years course and under which faculty?

Depending on your mode of entry, Forestry is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Agriculture but may be under a different faculty in some universities.

Can a commercial or art student study Forestry

No! Forestry is a science course and not suitable for commercial or art student. But if you have required subject combination in your O level result, you can go for it if that is the course you desire to study. If you’re still in secondary school, you may find it difficult to change subjects during WAEC registration because your schools may go against it. The alternative way to write the required subjects combination for Forestry is through GCE.

Where can I work with a Degree in Forestry

What is Direct Entry Special Consideration (Waiver) to study Forestry
(i) University of Calabar (UNICAL) accepts NCE/ND and HND in Agric. Forestry, Wildlife, or Fisheries Management from recognised institutions into 200.
(ii) University of Agriculture, Makurdi accepts (i) Two A-level passes in any of Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Mathematics, Agric. Science, Geology, (Pure and Applied) Physics, Economics.
(ii) NCE (Agriculture), OND/HND (Forestry, Agriculture & any other Biological Science (Zoology & Botany). HND candidates may be admitted for 300 level while OND/NCE candidates for 200 level.
(iii) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) – Same as Animal Science.
(iv) University of Ibadan (UI) accepts National Diploma in Forestry provided ‘O’ level requirements are met.
(v) Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), University of Benin (UNIBEN) and Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY) – Same as in Agricultural Economics.
(vi) University of Uyo – As in Agric Economics and Extension.
(vii) Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY) accepts HND in Agriculture at Credit pass, OND (Distinction) in Agriculture. Does not accept NCE.
(viii) Usumanu Danfodiyo University (UDUSOK) accepts: (a) NCE (Agric) or OND (credit level) in Agric/Forestry. (b) HND (Agric) or Forestry may be admitted into 300 level.
(ix) Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBU) and Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike same as in Agriculture.
(x) University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) as in Fisheries
(xi) Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) accepts OND/NCE (Double major) and HND in Agriculture.
(xii) University of Calabar (UNICAL) requires two (2) A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology or Agriculture
(xiii) University of Benin (UNIBEN) as in Agric. Economics.
(xiv) Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) as in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development.
(xv) Kebbi State University, Kebbi – Same as in Fisheries.
(xvi) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria accepts: a) National Diploma (ND) in Forestry Technology Management with overall Upper Credit or Distinction. b) Higher National Diploma (HND) in Forestry Technology/Management/Science with an overall credit
(xvii) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) accepts: a) ND (Forestry/Wildlife) or related field with minimum of Lower Credit from recognized institutions into 100 level. b) HND (Forestry/Wildlife) or related field with minimum of Lower credit may be admitted into 200 level. c) NCE Agriculture double major at Credit Pass level may be admitted into 200 level

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE, Special Consideration (Waiver) to study Forestry
(i) University of Calabar (UNICAL) and University of Ibadan (UI) require 5 credit at one (1) sittings or 6 credit at two (2) sittings to include English Language, Biology/Agric science, Chemistry, Mathematics and any one of Geography, Physics and Economics.
(ii) Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike and Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBU) – as in  Agriculture.
(iii) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) – accepts a pass in English language for candidates with five ‘O’ level credits which include Mathematics and Physics.
(vi) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) and Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY) require at least a pass in Physics.
(v) Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT), University of Benin (UNIBEN) and Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) – As in Agric Economics.
(vi) Federal University, Wukari, Taraba State (FUWUKARI) and Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike – Same as in Agriculture.
(vii) Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki – As in Landscape Management.
(viii) Cross River State University of Science &Technology, Calabar (CRUTECH) – Same as Animal Science and Fisheries
(ix) Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) as in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development.
(x) University of Agriculture, Makurdi requires a minimum of Five `O’ Level credits passes in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and any of Physics, Geography, Economics and Statistics. A credit in Physics can be substituted for Mathematics and vice versa. However, the candidate is expected to have a minimum of pass in the other subject to benefit from the waiver.
(XI) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) accepts Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.

What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration (Waiver) to study Forestry
(i) University of Calabar (UNICAL) and University of Ibadan (UI) require 5 credit passes at one (1) sittings or 6 credit passes at two (2) sittings to include English Language, Biology/Agric science, Chemistry, Mathematics and any one of Geography, Physics and Economics.
(ii) Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike and Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBU) – as in Agriculture.
