WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Accountancy

You’re expected to have at least 5 credits on the required WAEC subject combination needed to study Accountancy in Nigeria polytechnics. This subject combination is also applicable to other O’level exams such as NECO AND GCE. The required WAEC subject combination (O level requirement) for Accountancy must include:
English Language (not Literature in English) and Mathematics and any three subjects from the following: Economics/Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English Geography Office Practice Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History/Government Typewriting Shorthand
These listed subjects are compulsory for anyone writing WAEC and other O level examinations. I will advise you to include a Language in your O level subjects. For the record, if you are one of those students seeking admission into any polytechnics in Lagos State, Yoruba Language is compulsory for Accountancy. JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Accountancy

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is a body responsible for your admission into the University or other institutions. Now I’m going to show you the compulsory JAMB subjects for Accountancy that you must register (English must be included because it is compulsory even though it may not be listed among the JAMB subjects below), and I will honestly advise you to aim for a score of 150 so that you can easily gain admission into any Polytechnics. Please note– English Language is compulsory. If Mathematics is not listed among the Jamb subject on this post, then Mathematics is not compulsory for this course. JAMB is not the only option to gain admission into Nigerian Universities to study Accountancy. Polytechnic Special Consideration/waiver for Business Administration and Management
i) Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Federal Polytechnic, Bida and Federal Polytechnic, Anambra State. require five (5) credit passes in not more than two sittings including Economics or Commerce.
ii) FEDPOFFA requires credit in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any one of Commerce, Business Method, Book keeping, Accounts and Geography.
iii) Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos State (YABATECH) requires 5 credits in not more than 2 sittings which must include Mathematics, English Language Economics and any two (2) from Government/History, Commerce, Bus. Methods, Principles of Accounts, Lit. In-English, One (1) Science Subject. Also requires as UTME subjects Mathematics, Economics, Principles of Account.
iv) Osun State Polytechnic, Iree requires credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of commerce, Business Method, Book keeping, Accounts, Geography, Information Technology, Office Practice and one Science subject. It accepts ICT/Data Processing/Computer Studies, Office Practice, Financial Accounting/Book Keeping, Civic Education/Government/History, and Business Methods/Business Management/Commerce/ Markeing.
v) LASPOTEC does not accept Literature-in-English as course requirement for Business studies.
vi) DELPOLY accepts Agric. Sc. and Literature in English.
vii) Ramat Polytechnic accepts Certificate in Accountancy from a recognized Institution plus necessary O/L requirements
viii) Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe does not accept History.
ix) KWAPOLY offers it as Business Studies. Does not accept History but accepts Statistics and Secretarial Duties.
x) Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State requires credits passes in one science subject, Economics and does not accept Shorthand, Typewriting, History, Office Practice, Literature in English.
xi) Federal Polytechnic, Owerri, Imo State. accepts as one of the three other subjects Statistic, CRS, Information Communication Technology and any one of Science subjects
xii)College of Administrative and Business Studies, Yobe State (CABSP) accepts Certificate Course of the College or from any recognised institution OR any other qualification recognized by the College Academic Board.
xiii) Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi requires Government in addition to compulsory, Mathematics and Economics.
xiv) AUCHI POLY requires that the relevant number of credit passes should include Mathematics, English Language and Economics.
xv) Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, Imo State accepts only Biology or Agricultural Science. It does not accept History and Lit. in Eng. as course requirement.
xvi) Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, Imo State: For Marketing – Same as in Accountancy.
xvii) Benue State Poly, Benue State. (BEN-POLY) requires five ‘O’ level credits including English Language and Mathematics and three other subjects from Economics, Business Methods, Principle of Accounts, Literature-inEnglish, Commerce, History, Statistics, Geography, Government, Agric. Science/Biology.
xvii) Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro requires five credit passes in English Language (not Literature in English or Oral English), Mathematics and three other subjects from Economics, Business Methods, Principles of Account, Literature in English, Commerce, History/CRS, Statistics, Geography, Government, Agricultural Science/Biology.
xix)Fidei Polytechnic, Benue State requires credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of commerce, Business Methods, Bookkeeping, Accounts and Geography at not more than two sittings, but does not accept Shorthand, Typewriting, History, Office Practice, and Literature in English.
xx) FEDFISH-LAG requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three others from Economics, Geography, Commerce, Statistics, Government, History, Home Economics, French, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
 U.T.M.E. SUBJECTS:
i) Igbajo Polytechnic, Osun State – Mathematics is not compulsory.
ii) Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechic, Unwana requires Mathematics and any two of Geography, Commerce/Economics; Government/ History, Principles of Accounts, Biology/ Agricultural Science.
