WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Agronomy

The subjects needed to study Agronomy in WAEC must contain five (5) credit. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The required WAEC subject combination (O level requirement) for Agronomy must include:

  4. Biology
  5. Geography or Economics
  6. A trade subject

 

JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Agronomy 

Knowing JAMB subjects for Agronomy is not enough. You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. If you’re having troubles JAMB UTME maybe it’s time you pass through IJBM, JUBEB, ND, HND or Predegree!..

Two ‘A’ level passes or equivalent in Chemistry and Biology/Agric Science/Botany/Zoology/ plus one of Mathematics/Physics and Geology/ Economics

Agronomy is how many years course and under which faculty?

Depending on your mode of entry, Agronomy is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Agriculture but may be under a different faculty in some universities.

Can a commercial or art student study Agronomy

No! Agronomy is a science course and not suitable for commercial or art student. But if you have required subject combination in your O level result, you can go for it if that is the course you desire to study. If you’re still in secondary school, you may find it difficult to change subjects during WAEC registration because your schools may go against it. The alternative way to write the required subjects combination for Agronomy is through GCE.

Is Agronomy a science or social science subject?

What is Direct Entry Special Consideration (Waiver) for Agronomy
(i) Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) accepts ND with Upper Credit/HND/NCE at Credit Level in relevant subjects, (Plus UTME requirements) may be considered for admission into 200 Level
(ii) Osun State University Osogbo (UNIOSUN) same as in Fisheries.
(iii) MAKRUDI accepts (a) Two `A” level passes in any of Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science/Botany/Zoology or Mathematics, (Pure & Applied) Physics, Geology and Economics). (b) NCE/OND/HND (Credit/Merit) in Agriculture.
(iv) Taraba State University, Jalingo (TSUJ) accepts ND (merit pass) in Crop production Technology plus UTME requirement.

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE, Special Consideration (Waiver) for Agronomy
(i) Abia State University, Uturu requires a credit in Physics.
(ii) Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu (ESUT) accepts pass in Physics.
(iii) Cross River State University of Science &Technology, Calabar (CRUTECH) – Same as Agricultural-Economics and Extension.
(iv) Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) requires five ‘O’ level credit in English Language, mathematics, Physics, Agric. Sci. or Biology.
(v) Osun State University Osogbo (UNIOSUN)  requires five’O’ Level credit in the SSCE or its equivalent at not more than two sittings in addition to an acceptable credit in the UME
(vi) Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike same as in Agricultural Economics
(vii) University of Agriculture, Makurdi requires five credit in Biology or Agriculture Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language, Physics or any other Science subjects. Accepts a pass in Physics.
(viii) Taraba State University, Jalingo (TSUJ) requires five credit in Biology or Agric. Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and one of Physics, Geography or Economics. UTME requirement with a pass in Physics is acceptable.
