WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Animal Science

The subjects needed to study Animal Science in WAEC must contain five (5) credit. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The required WAEC subject combination (O level requirement) for Animal Science must include:

JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Animal Science 

Knowing JAMB subjects for Animal Science is not enough. You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. Animal Science is how many years course and under which faculty?

Depending on your mode of entry, Animal Science is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Agriculture but may be under a different faculty in some universities.

Can a commercial or art student study Animal Science

No! Animal Science is a science course and not suitable for commercial or art student. But if you have required subject combination in your O level result, you can go for it if that is the course you desire to study. If you’re still in secondary school, you may find it difficult to change subjects during WAEC registration because your schools may go against it. The alternative way to write the required subjects combination for Animal Science is through GCE.

(i) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU) and Abia State University, Uturu accept HND at (Upper Credit) into 200 level. Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU) does not accept Geography, Geology and Economics.
(ii) University of Calabar (UNICAL) and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli- Same as in Agric-Economics & Extension.
(iii) University of Benin (UNIBEN), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) – As in Agric Economics.
(iv) University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) accepts NCE/ND/HND in relevant fields.
(v) Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) accepts OND(credit) in related Discipline and HND with at least a credit level pass into 200 level.
(vi) University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) – No Direct Entry.
(vii) Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) – as in Agric Economics
(viii) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) requires HSC/GCE A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology including English Language, ND/UD (upper credit) in Biology or Agricultural Science for admission to 200 level or HND (credit) in Biology or Agricultural Science for admission to 200 or 300 levels respectively in addition to UTME requirement.
(ix) Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) – Same as in Animal Production and Health.
(x) University of Agriculture, Makurdi accepts Candidates who met UTME requirements, plus ND at lower credit pass (Agric Or Animal Production and Health) or National Certificate of Education (NCE) merit pass (Agric. Science or Animal Science major) may be admitted to 100 level. – Candidates with a minimum of upper credit pass (Agric. Or Animal Production and Health) may be admitted to 200 level). – Candidates with UTME requirements, plus NCE, with minimum of credit pass (Agric. Science or Animal Science Major) may be admitted to 200 levels.) – Candidates with UTME requirements, plus HND, with upper credit pass (Agriculture or Animal Production and Health) may be admitted to 300 level.
(xi) University of Calabar (UNICAL) accepts HND (credit), OND/NCE (merit) in Agricultural Science or related fields.
(xii) Taraba State University, Jalingo (TSUJ) accepts National Diploma in Animal Production and health or any other field with animal science related options with a minimum of lower credit pass in addition to UTME requirement.
(xiii) Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki accepts: (a) NCE with minimum Merit passes in relevant fields. (b) HND and ND with minimum of Upper credit in relevant fields..

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE, Special Consideration (Waiver) for Animal Science
(i) University of Benin (UNIBEN) and University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) – As in Agric Economics.
(ii) University of Ibadan (UI) – As in Agriculture.
(iii) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) requires at least a pass in Physics.
(iv) University of Calabar (UNICAL) accepts Geography and Economics.
(v) Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU), Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu (ESUT), Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) & River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) accept a pass in English.
(vi) University of Calabar (UNICAL) requires a credit pass in Physics.
(vii) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) – requires credit passes in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
(viii) Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu (ESUT) accepts a pass in Physics and a credit pass in Mathematics.
(ix) University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) – Same as in Fisheries.
(xi) Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) – as in Agric Economics.
(xii) Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) as in Agric. Extension and Rural Development.
(xiii) Osun State University Osogbo (UNIOSUN) requires five ‘O’ Level credit passes in the SSCE or its equivalent at not more than two sittings in addition to an acceptable credit pass in the UME.
(xiv) Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki requires at least a pass in Physics.
(xv) Taraba State University, Jalingo (TSUJ) and Abia State University, Uturu require five SSCE credit passes in Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology/Agric. Science, Physics and English Language. Taraba State University, Jalingo (TSUJ) accepts a pass in Physics

What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration (Waiver) for Animal Science
(i) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and University of Ibadan (UI) – requirements as in Agric Economics and Agriculture respectively.
(ii) Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) and University of Benin (UNIBEN) – Same as in Agric Economics.
(iii) Osun State University Osogbo (UNIOSUN) same as in Fisheries.
(iv) University of Agriculture, Makurdi requires five (5) credits passes in SC/WASC/NECO/GCE 0′ Level (at not more than two sittings) including the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Mathematics, English Language and any other subject. At least a pass in Physics is required. A credit in Agricultural Science must be backed with at least a pass in Biology. A pass in English Language is acceptable if high grades are scored in the Science subject.
(v) University of Calabar (UNICAL) requires Mathematics or Physics.
(vi) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) requires Agricultural Science or Biology.
(v) University of Calabar (UNICAL) requires Mathematics or Physics.
(vi) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) requires Agricultural Science or Biology
