WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Soil Science
The subjects needed to study Soil Science in WAEC must contain five (5) credit. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The required WAEC subject combination (O level requirement) for Soil Science must include:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Biology/Agricultural Science
- Any other Science subject.

JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Soil Science
Knowing JAMB subjects for Soil Science is not enough. You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Soil Science is how many years course and under which faculty?
Depending on your mode of entry, Soil Science is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Agriculture but may be under a different faculty in some universities.
Can a commercial or art student study Soil Science
No! Soil Science is a science course and not suitable for commercial or art student. But if you have required subject combination in your O level result, you can go for it if that is the course you desire to study. If you’re still in secondary school, you may find it difficult to change subjects during WAEC registration because your schools may go against it. The alternative way to write the required subjects combination for Soil Science is through GCE.

What is Direct Entry Special Consideration (waiver) to study Soil Science
(i) Federal University of Technology, Minna accepts OND/NCE with a minimum of credit in Agriculture or OND/NCE with TC II credit in Agriculture/Maths, Gen. Sci./Int. Sci or Agric Sc/Biology
(ii) Federal University of Technology, Minna accepts credit in OND/NCE Agriculture into 200 levels while those with HND are accepted into 300 levels.
(iii) Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU), University of Benin (UNIBEN), Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) and Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike as in Agriculture.
(iv) Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY) accepts: (a) Two HSC or GCE `A’ Level credit passes in Chemistry, and Biology (b) ND with credit passes in Biology/ Agricultural Science and Chemistry (c) ND/HND with credit in Biology/Agric Science
(v) University of Calabar (UNICAL) – Same as in Agric-Economics.
(vii) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) – As in Animal Science.
(viii) Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) and University of Benin (UNIBEN) as in Agric. Economics.
(ix) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) same as in Agric. Economics and Extension.
(x) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU) does not accept Geography, Geology and Health Science and accepts HND/OND in Agriculture obtained at upper credit level from recognized Institution.
(xi) Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji accepts two ‘A’ levels in Chemistry, Biology/Agric. Sci and any other from Physics, Economics and Mathematics. OND/NCE Upper credit in relevant areas.
(xii) University of Calabar (UNICAL) accepts HND, ND/NCE (credit level) pass in Agriculture and related sciences.
(xiii) University of Agriculture, Makurdi – Same as in Crop Production.
(xiv) Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) as in Agric. Extension and Rural Development.
(xv) Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki accept NCE with minimum Merit passes in relevant fields or HND & ND with minimum of Upper credits in relevant fields.

(ii) River State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) and University of Calabar (UNICAL) – as in Animal Science.

(vii) Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki same as in Soil Science
