You’re expected to have at least 5 credits on the required WAEC subject combination needed to study Islamic/Sharia Law in Nigeria universities. This includes a critical analysis of the legal history, jurisprudential development, the schools of Islamic Islamic/Sharia Law, classical and modern theories, the evolution of the Islamic/Sharia Law up to the present, and its contemporary applications.
During the course of study, this degree programme will survey the most pressing areas in which traditional Islamic norms remain relevant today—criminal Islamic/Sharia Law, family Islamic/Sharia Law, and commercial Islamic/Sharia Law; it will also survey the developments and new constitutional controversies in the public Islamic/Sharia Law spheres in Nigeria and other countries. What is Direct Entry Special Consideration (Waiver) for Islamic/Sharia Law
(I) Bayero University, Kano (BUK) does not accept NCE.
(ii) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) accepts degree with a minimum of third class plus Credit in five subjects to include English Language, Literature in English, Islamic Studies or Arabic Studies and any other two subjects at ‘O’ Level.
(iii) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) accepts at Least A’ level passes in Islamic or Arabic with Arts/Social Sciences subjects, Diploma in Islamic/Sharia Law (Upper credit), a relevant degree of an accredited University or NCE with Arabic or Islamic Studies as major. Requires Distinction or Credit grade where a Diploma is of Distinction, Credit, Merit and Pass grades
What is WAEC, NECO, GCE, Special Consideration (Waiver) for Islamic/Sharia Law
(i) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Islamic Studies or Arabic and any other two subjects in Arts or Social Sciences. (Civic Education /Government/History).
(ii)Bayero University, Kano (BUK) requires Islamic Studies/Arabic and Literature in English for Common and Islamic Islamic/Sharia Law.
(iii) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) requires a credit pass in literature in English.
(iv) Kogi State University Anyigba requires five Credit passes at SSCE and or GCE O/L in English Language. Literature in English and three other relevant Arts, Social Sciences, or Science subject
What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration (Waiver) for Islamic/Sharia Law
(i) Usumanu Danfodiyo University (UDUSOK) requires Arabic
(ii) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria require Arabic or Islamic Studies and any other two Arts or Social Science subjects.
(iii) Any two Arts or Social Science subjects including Literature in English.
