Knowing JAMB subjects for Library and Information Science is not enough. You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. Library and Information Science is how many years course and under which faculty?
Depending on your mode of entry, Library and Information Science is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Education but may be under a different faculty in some universities.

What is Direct Entry Special Consideration to study Library and Information Science
(i) Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK) requires one of the ‘A’ level or NCE subject to be combined with Library Science.
(ii) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria andBayero University, Kano (BUK) accept NCE merit provided such candidates have two years working experience.
(iii) University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) accepts NCE/ND/HND in related fields.
(iv) Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli accepts NCE (Lower Credit)
(v) University of Ibadan (UI) requires a pass in ‘O’ level Mathematics.
(vi) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU) accepts NCE in addition to five credit at O/Level or its equivalent.
(vii) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) accepts D/E candidates who hold one of the following (a) NCE with at least merit in Library and Information Science or the subject being combined with library & Information Sciences. (b) Higher School Certificate/GCE Advanced level in at least two subjects, including that to be combined with Library andInformation Science.
(viii) Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY) requires: (a) two A-level credit in relevant subjects (b) NCE at Merit level in relevant subjects
(ix) Osun State University Osogbo (UNIOSUN) same as in Vocational and Technical Education
(x) University of Benin (UNIBEN) accepts (a) Two (2) passes in relevant subject areas at Advanced Level with SSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level credit in three (3) other subjects in not more than two (2) sittings (b) Three (3) passes in relevant subject areas at Advanced level with SSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level credit in two (2) other subjects in not more than two (2) sittings (c) At least Merit in two (2) major subjects in relevant areas in the NCE with SSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level Credit or its equivalent in three other subjects.
(xi) Bauchi State University, Gadau accepts IJMB/A Level/GCE A Level Credit passes in any 3 of the following subjects: Any two of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics and Economics, Commerce, Accounting, ICT and Business Management . National Diploma (ND) with at least Lower Credit in Library and Information Science from a recognised Polytechnic, and NCE in Science Subjects with Minor in Library Science at Lower Credit or Merit. The candidate must also have the 5 O’Level requirements in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agric Science and 1 credit in Economics, Commerce, Accounting, ICT and Business Management.
What is WAEC, NECO, GCE Special Consideration to study Library and Information Science
(i) UNZIK accepts five TC II merits including English Language and at least a pass in Mathematics.
(ii) University of Ibadan (UI) – Same as in Guidance and Counselling.
(iii) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU) requires five O/Level credit including English Language, Mathematics and any other three Social Science/Arts/Science subjects.
(iv) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) requires five credits at one sittings or six credits at two sittings.
(v) Osun State University Osogbo (UNIOSUN) same as in Vocational and Technical Education.
(vi) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) requires University minimum entry requirements with five O’ level credit, including the subject to becombined with Library and Information Science. The following additional requirements apply to particular combination: (a) Credit in Mathematics for Library & Information Science/Physics & Library and Information Science/Economics. (b) Credit in Mathematics/Physics for Library & Information Science/ Chemistry. (c) Pass in Mathematics for those combining library & Information Science with Botany, Geography/Physics, Political Science or Zoology. (d) Credit in English Language for those combining Library & Information Science with French, History or Political Science. (e) credit in English Literature for Library & Information Science/English.
(vii) Abia State University, Uturu requires Five SSCE credit to include English Language, four other subjects and at least a pass in Mathematics.
(ix) Federal University of Technology, Minna requires credit in Physics and any other science or social science subject.
(x) Kogi State University Anyigba accepts a pass in Mathematics and credit in four other relevant subjects including English Language.
(xi) University of Benin (UNIBEN) accepts five O’ level credit at not more than two sittings.
(xii) University of Jos (UNIJOS) requires five credit in WASCE or NECO at not more than two sittings including English Language. Accepts a pass in Mathematics.
(xiii) Bauchi State University, Gadau English Language, Mathematics to form the core course with Credits in 2 Science Subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics and ICT and 1 Credit in Economics, Commerce, Business Method and Financial Accounting
What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration to study Library and Information Science
(i) Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBU) requires Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry/Biology
(ii) Bauchi State University, Gadau requires Mathematics, 1 Science and 1 Commercial Subject.
(iii) Michael Okpara University of Agricultural Umudike requires any three from Social Sciences, Business and Sciences.
