WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Hausa

You’re expected to have at least 5 credits on the required WAEC subject combination needed to study Hausa in Nigeria universities.

The required subject combination (o level requirement for Hausa) must include

  1. English Language
  2. Hausa
  3. A trade subject

The above WAEC subject combination is also applicable to other O’level examinations such as NECO and GCE. So now that you know the compulsory O level requirement to study Hausa, let also look at UTME and Direct requirements and course descriptions.

 

JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Hausa

Prepare yourself well so you can score above 200 in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of this score may deny you Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic

Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. If you’re having troubles JAMB UTME maybe it’s time you pass through IJBM, JUBEB, ND or Predegree.

Two ‘A’ level passes in Hausa and any other relevant subjects

The SSCE O level and A-level subject combination (requirements) had been listed above but, some Universities may accept D7 or E8 in some a compulsory subject instead of Credit. And some may accept or reject two sittings. That is combinations of WAEC, NECO, or GCE results. What is Direct Entry Special Consideration to study Hausa
(i) University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID),Bayero University, Kano (BUK) and Usumanu Danfodiyo University (UDUSOK) accept NCE with Hausa major.

(ii) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU) accepts NCE in Hausa with Upper Credits in addition to O/Level requirement in not more than two sittings.

(iii) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria accepts (a) Two ‘A’ level/IJMB passes in Hausa and any other relevant subjects. (b) NCE with a minimum of C grade in Hausa. (c) General English/Use of English at NCE satisfies’ O’ level English requiremen

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE Special Consideration (waiver) to study Hausa
(i)Bayero University, Kano (BUK) requires five O’ Level Credit passes to include English, Hausa plus three other subjects

(ii) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU) requires five O/Level credit passes in SSCE or its equivalent including English Language, Hausa and at least any other three Arts/Social Science subjects with a credit pass in Mathematics.

(iii) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language Hausa and any three Arts or Social Science subjects.

(iv) Kaduna State University, Kaduna (KASU) accepts English, Hausa and any other subjects from Arts or Social Science as UTME subjects.

What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration study Hausa
(i)Bayero University, Kano (BUK) and Usumanu Danfodiyo University (UDUSOK) accept Hausa plus any other two Arts subjects.

(ii) Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa, Jigawa (SLU) accepts Hausa plus any two Arts and/or Social Science subjects.
