WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Geography

You’re expected to have at least 5 credits on the required WAEC subject combination needed to study Geography in Nigeria universities.

The required subject combination (o level requirement for Geography) must include;

  1. English language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Geography
  4. Any other two science subjects.
  5. A trade subject

JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Geography

Prepare yourself well so you can score above 200 in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of this score may deny you Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic

Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. If you’re having troubles JAMB UTME maybe it’s time you pass through IJBM, JUBEB, ND or Predegree.

What is Direct Entry Special Consideration (waiver) for Geography
(i) Federal University of Technology, Minna accepts Geography and Mathematics/Physics (Physics proffered)

(ii) Federal University of Technology, Minna accepts NCE (merit), ND/HND credit) Meteorology.

(iii)Bayero University, Kano (BUK) does not accept Econs.

(iv) Kano University of Science & Technology, Wudil (KUST) accepts IJMB/ND/NCE for Direct Entry in Geography

(v) Gombe State University, Gombe accepts Economics and Government.

(vi) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU) accept in addition to O/level requirements two ‘A’ Level or NCE subject’s one of which must be Geography

(vii) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) accepts: (a) Two ‘A’ level passes in Geography  and anyone of Economics, History, Agric Science, Geology, and Literature in English, Biology, Chemistry or Physics. (b) NCE in Geography  at Merit level, ND with at least merit level. Lower credit level pass in Town Planning, Surveying, Environmental Management or Tropical Science, plus four O’ level credit passes which must include credit in English language and at least a pass in Mathematics.

(viii) Godfrey Okoye University, Ugwuomu-Nike – Enugu State accepts NCE in Geography

(ix) University of Ibadan (UI) accepts 2 A/L subjects including Geography and any other science subject for Geography

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE Special Consideration (waiver) for Geography
(i) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye requires two other Science subjects.

(ii) University of Ibadan (UI) requires 5 or 6 ‘O’ level credit passes at one or two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Geography, and any two other Science subjects.

(iii) Gombe State University, Gombe accepts Economics.

(iv) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU): Science Option- Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, Geography, and any two of Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Agricultural Science. Social Science Option- Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Geography, and any two of Government, Economics, Commerce and Accounting.

(v) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English language, Mathematics, Geography, Biology and any other science subjects.

(vi) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) requires five o’ level credit passes including English Language, Geography  and any three from Arts or Social Science subjects and at least a pass in Mathematics.

(vii) Kaduna State University, Kaduna (KASU) only accept among Chemistry, Biology or Physics as the other two Science subjects.

(viii) Abia State University, Uturu requires Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any three subjects from Arts, Social Science and Sciences. A credit pass in Geography  is compulsory.

(ix) Federal University of Technology, Minna accepts requires credit pass in Physics and any other science subject.

(x) Godfrey Okoye University, Ugwuomu-Nike – Enugu State requires two other subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.

What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration (waiver) for Geography
(i) University of Ibadan (UI) requires Mathematics / Biology, Chemistry / Physics, Further Maths or Geography.

(ii) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria requires Geography, Biology and any other Science subject.

(iii) University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) requires Geography and any two subject preferably Arts or Social Science subject.
