WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Education and Geography

The subjects needed to study Education and Geography in WAEC must contain five (5) credit. This subject combination is also applicable to NECO AND GCE… The required WAEC subject combination (O level requirement) for Education and Geography must include

JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Education and Geography 

Knowing JAMB subjects for Education and Geography is not enough. You should aim for a score of 180 – 200 and above in JAMB UTME to be on a safe side (Just a piece of advice) because anything short of that may deny you of Admission/Post UTME. Of course, if you have a score below 180, you can consider College of Education or Polytechnic… Please note – JAMB is not the only option for admission. Education and Geography is how many years course and under which faculty?

Depending on your mode of entry, Education and Geography is a three to four years course in Nigeria. According to JAMB, this course is under Faculty of Education but may be under a different faculty in some universities.

What is Direct Entry Special Consideration (waiver) to study Education and Geography
(i) University of Abuja, Gwagwalada accepts Diploma with credit in at least 3 ‘O’ level subjects.
(ii) University of Lagos (UNILAG) does not require Physics. Accepts University of Lagos (UNILAG) Foundation Diploma plus UTME requirements.
(iii) University of Benin (UNIBEN) requires (i) 2/3 NCE merit passes including Geography/Physics plus 3/2 O/L credit including English Language and Mathematics at one sittings.
(iv) Merit in own Diploma/Other recognised University Diploma (Credit / Upper credit) in Cartogra Physics and Geographic Information System (CARGIS) or Environmental Management and Geographic Information System plus 3 O/L credit including English Language and Mathematics.
(v) Ekiti State University & University of Jos (UNIJOS) accept General English at NCE in lieu of credit in O/L English Language or TC II merit.
(vi) Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni requires ‘A’ level passes in Geography and any other Science subject, Economics or Government.
(vii) Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY) accepts NCE (merit) plus a minimum of three relevant credits in ‘O’ level/TC II
(viii) Edo University Iyamo – Same as in Education Biology.
(ix) EDZAR – requires three NCE/A’ level passes. Candidates must obtain credit in English Language and four other subjects and a pass in Literature in English and Mathematics. Also accepts NCE in English combined with any other subject with a minimum of ‘C’ grade across including Education. Admission is by Direct Entry only.
(x) Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK) accepts Diploma in Science Education from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and any other recognised institution.
(xi) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) two ‘A’ level passes/NCE merit level passes which should include Geography/Physics and Economics or Government/Political Science.
(xii) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU) accepts two A/Level credit in Geography/Physics and any other Science subjects Economics or Government. NCE with Merit in Geography/Physics and any other Science subjects in also acceptable.
(xii) Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY) accepts GCE ‘A’ level or its equivalent in two relevant subjects /NCE/Diploma with distinction, credit or merit in the major.
(xiv) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU) accepts Two ‘A’ level passes in relevant subjects which must include Geography/Physics plus other subject chosen from Economics, Mathematics, Business Methods and Government or NCE (Social Studies combined with any Social Sciences subject may be accepted.
(xvi) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria accepts: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes/NCE merit level passes in Geography/Physics and education. (ii) IJMB/AL passes with a minimum of C grade in Geography/Physics. (v) Its own Diploma in Geography/ Physics Education with a minimum of merit pass.
(xvii) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) does not accept physics in lieu of Geography. Accepts certificate in its own Foundation Programme.
(xviii) Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu Ode (TASUED) requires two A’ level or NCE (merit) in geography and any one of Social Science subjects
 

What is WAEC, NECO, GCE Special Consideration (waiver) to study Education and Geography
(i) University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT), Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU), University of Calabar (UNICAL), University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Usumanu Danfodiyo University (UDUSOK), EDALV, and University of Uyo accept a pass in Mathematics
(ii) University of Abuja, Gwagwalada and Usumanu Danfodiyo University (UDUSOK) accept a pass in English Language
(iii) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye and Abia State University, Uturu require Government or Economics.
(iv) Ekiti State University requires two Social Science subjects.
(v) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU) requires credit in Geography/Physics and any two of Economics, Government, Mathematics and History.
(vi) University of Benin (UNIBEN) requires Mathematics, Geography/Physics and one other Social Science subject.
(vii) Federal University of Technology, Minna accepts NCE (merit) OND/HND at lower credit in addition to four relevant UTME subjects.
(viii) University of Lagos (UNILAG) requires five credit including English, Mathematics, Geography and any 2 of Literature in English, History or Government, French, Yoruba/Igbo, crk/irs, Economics.
(ix) Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY) and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria accept TC II with a minimum of five relevant subjects.
(x) Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU) accepts at least a pass in English Language.
(xi) University of Benin (UNIBEN) accepts NCE General Mathematics/General English in lieu of O/L Mathematics/English Language.
(xii) Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBU) requires other subjects from Science.
(xiii) Umar Musa Yar’ Adua University Katsina (UMYU) requires five ‘’O’ credit which include English Language, MathematicsGeography/ Physics and any of Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Biology or Agricultural Science.
(xiv) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) requires credit Passes in Mathematics. Does not accept physics in lieu of Geography.
(xv) Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (MAUTY) same as in Education Mathematics.
(xvi) University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) accepts a Pass in English Language.
(xvii) EDZAR requires any Science subjects Biology, Chemistry and Physics instead of Social Sciences subjects.
(xviii) Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria requires Five ‘O’ level credit to include Geography/ Physics, English Language and Mathematics and any other subject from Chemistry Physics or/Biology.
(xviv) University of Calabar (UNICAL) requires five O/L credit to include English Language, Mathematics and any other Social Science subjects
(xvv)Bayero University, Kano (BUK) requires five O’ Level Credit passes to include Geography/Physics, English language and any other Social Science subject. Also offers Geography/Physics with Science combination. Geography/Physics with two other Sciences subject i.e. Physics, Biology/Chemistry.
(xvvi) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni does not accept credit in Physics in lieu of Geography

What is JAMB UTME Special Consideration (waiver) to study Education and Geography
(i) Federal University of Technology, Minna – Geography/Physics and any two subjects from Mathematics, Biology and Physics.
(ii) Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye and Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) do not accept Arts subjects.
(iii) University of Benin (UNIBEN) accepts Geography, Mathematics and any other subject.
(iv) Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) requires Geography ND Government or Economics.
(v) Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) – Geography/Physics and at least one of Mathematics/ Economics/Government.
(vi) Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBU) requires other subjects from Science.
(vii) University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) and University of Lagos (UNILAG) do not accept Physics.
(viii) Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni requires Geography and any two of Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Agricultural Science or Economics.
(ix) University of Lagos (UNILAG) accepts any three Of Literature in English, History/Government, French, Geography, Math, Yoruba/Igbo, crk/irs, Economics, Commerce.
