WAEC subject combination (requirements) for Welding and Fabrication Technology

You’re expected to have at least 5 credits on the required WAEC subject combination needed to study Welding and Fabrication Technology in Nigeria polytechnics. This subject combination is also applicable to other O’level exams such as NECO AND GCE. The O level requirement, that is, the required WAEC subject combination for Welding and Fabrication Technology must include:

Home Economics/Technical Drawing and any four of the following: Fine Art History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Mathematics, Clothing and Textiles, Literature in English, English Language, Home Management. At least a credit pass in English Language is compulsory.

JAMB UTME subject combination (requirements) for Welding and Fabrication Technology

Can a commercial or art student study Welding and Fabrication Technology?

No! If you are a Commercial or an Art student, you cannot study Welding and Fabrication Technology at the polytechnic because it is a pure science course which need a good background on science subjects. To avoid discouragement, you can go for this course if you wish provided you have the required subjects combination in your O level result. If you’re still in secondary school, you may find it difficult to change subjects to fit your desired course during WAEC registration because some schools may go against it.


Special Consideration

Now I am confident that you know the compulsory subjects needed to study Welding and Fabrication Technology in polytechnics. But note this — Some Polytechnics may accept D7 or E8 in some a compulsory subject instead of Credit. And some may accept or reject two sittings. That is combinations of WAEC, NECO, or GCE results. Polytechnic Special Consideration/waiver for Fashion Design and Clothing Technology

a) Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos State (YABATECH) offers the course as Fashion Design and requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Eng. Lang., F/Art or Clothing, Textile or Home Economics and any two subjects from the following History, Geography, Biology, Health Science, Technical Drawing, Economics, Mathematics and Chemistry.

b) Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna (KAD-POLY) requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any three from Home Economics, Technical Drawing, Fine Art, Clothing & textiles, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Literature in English and Home Management.

c) Federal Polytechnic, Anambra State. requires four ‘O’ level credit passes in English language, Fine Art and any other two subjects from History, Clothing & Textile, Chemistry, Biology, Health Science, Technical Drawing and at least credit pass in English Language is compulsory.

d) AUCHI POLY requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and any other three subjects at a sittings. Six credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at two sittings as course requirements.

e) AUCHI POLY accepts any three subjects as UTME subjects.

f) Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu State (IMT-ENU) requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and any three of Clothing and Textile/Food and Nutrition/Home Management, Technical Drawing/Fine Art, history, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Literature in English and relevant NTC/NBC and NVC Trades.

e) Benue State Poly, Benue State. (BEN-POLY) requires four ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Fine Art and any other two subjects from History, Clothing& Textile, Chemistry, Biology or Health Science, Technical Drawing and Mathematics. A pass in Mathematics will be at advantage.

UTME SUBJECTS:

i) Federal Polytechnic, Anambra State. accepts Fine Art and Economics.

ii) Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna (KAD-POLY) accepts any three of Biology/Agric. Science, Physics, Fine Art/Technical Drawing, Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics/Commerce. iii) Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Jigawa State. (KAZAURE) accepts Biology/Geography, Technical Drawing instead of Chemistry.

iv) The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State (The Polytechnic, Ibadan) requires any three subject from course requirement.
